Corporate would send the tapes weekly or monthly to the store, and he'd pop them in the tape player, running them on a loop. The tapes are full of bland music and sales pitches, and many of them are in rough shape because they were played so heavily. What makes Mark Davis notable is that he saved the tapes, reaching back into the 1980s.

He has now uploaded a huge chunk of Kmart audio history to the Internet Archive, and made a YouTube video to show what the physical tape collection looks like. If you're curious where this collection came from, here's the video explanation—if you'd rather just hear some awesome old Kmart music (it will take you back), skip the YouTube video and hit the music players below. The collection on the Internet Archive has 56 entries. Here are a few favorites. (Note that the first few seconds are the silent tape lead-in, so give it a moment to get going.) Now just head over to the Internet Archive and pretend you're in Kmart. (And if any of our readers own a business, may I suggest that this become your new in-store music? At least until your customers revolt?)Do not create threads to ask a question.  Only post specific video game deals. No affiliate links, trade posts/threads, or self-promotion! KMart shoppers can laugh all the way to the bank as a $150 Android tablet is now available. Depending on your needs, the 9.7″ screen of the iPad may be the best choice, but if you can cope with a 7″ display then KMart could save you a cool $350 on the price of a tablet device. The Augen GenTouch 78 7″ tablet is now available for $149.99 with the following features: 800×480 color TFT touch panel screen Expansion Slots: SD/MMC card slot up to 16GB Wi-Fi Connectivity with full web browsing capability

Supports Ebook Formats: Text, PDF, E-PUB, HTML Supports Media Formats: MP3, WMA, FLAC, AAC Picture Viewer in JPEG, BMP Leather carrying case, USB cable, and AC adapter included The question is, will that very cheap price be enough of a pull when compared to the iPad? Read more at Android Guys, found via liliputing I think such a low price is going to sell a lot of Augens for KMart. But ultimately your choice between this tablet or the iPad comes down to what you want to use it for. If your interests are focused on iTunes and Apple-centric services and apps, then the iPad is the only choice. If you really don’t care about iTunes, want an e-reader, web browser, and video player then the Augen might be the better choice. A 7″ screen is still capable of showing text at a decent size for reading. The GenTouch can handle 720p video playback, supports all the major e-book formats, can be used as a picture viewer, and has wireless built-in. It also saves you $350 and comes with a carry case so you don’t even need to budget for accessories.
