The countdown to 2017’s big game releases has already begun… Release dates: every game confirmed for 2017 2017 is shaping up to be a strong year for new releases, book-ended by a new Resident Evil in January and ending with a new Red Dead Redemption sometime later in the year. In between there’s the return of massive franchises such as Mass Effect, console exclusives like Detroit: Become Human, and the continued vibrancy of cool releases from the indie scene. We’ve put together this list of games for every title confirmed for PS4, Xbox One and PC over the coming 12 months, as well as the addition of some of the more interesting or high-profile releases on other platforms, including those for Nintendo’s new console, the Switch. We’ll also note all major DLC updates for the biggest games too. We’ll update this throughout the year, juggling dates as games are announced and delayed, and as others are nailed down to specific months of the year. Now, what are you looking forward to playing?

January starts strong with the return of Resident Evil, while the end of the month includes DLC for Infinite Warfare, the full release of last year’s Hitman episodes and our first look at Conan: Exiles. Ubisoft’s co-op online brawler For Honor shows promise for February, along with Xbox One exclusive Halo Wars 2 and the bombastic return of Sniper Elite. Some of us are holding out for Night in the Woods too. March is going to be the month that Nintendo launches a brand new console onto the market. There’s a lot we don’t know about the Switch, but hardware launches are always exciting times so we expect a pretty lively month as publishers confirm their games for launch day. If that’s not your bag, Ubisoft is dropping new Tom Clancy spin-off Ghost Recon: Wildlands. As the year rolls on we’ll be able to define these titles by month when publishers confirm their release dates, but in the meantime these are all pegged for the first three months or “early 2017”.

Expect some to be pushed back. We’re holding out for Mass Effect: Andromeda around this time as the big release in early 2017. The mad platform antics of Yooka-Laylee has been piquing our interest for long enough, so we’re glad to see this project from ex-Rare staffers is nailed down for April. Persona 5, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 and a remaster of Bulletstorm won’t go unnoticed, either. Namco’s Little Nightmares leads the releases during a quiet period, but we’re also intrigued by Sonic Mania, Cuphead and the release of Lego City Undercover around this time. There are a lot of releases due between summer and the end of the year, but it’s a little too early for publishers to nail down dates in most cases. So as much as we’re expecting big hitters like Red Dead Redemption 2, Dawn of War 3, Crackdown 3 and Star Wars: Battlefront 2, we’re treating them all as fluid and would expect some on this list to slip into 2018. Delayed and announced for 2018 We’ve only just started 2017 and we’re looking at games coming out 2018.

Unfortunately, you should expect this list to grow as the months roll on. Why not write a brief review about how well ran on your hardware? More than 100 characters from across the Marvel Universe. Oodles of new characters making their way to the latest LEGO smash 'em up LEGO Marvel's AvengersAvailable on: PS4, Wii U, 3DS, PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PSVita, PS3Publisher: Warner Brothers Interactive EntertainmentDeveloper: Traveller's TalesPlayers Offline: 1 - 2 It's been over a month now since LEGO Marvel's Avengers first graced our consoles, and we've been busy smashing our way through Manhattan as the killer duo of Iron Man and Squirrel Girl ever since. The latter a bit of a strange choice perhaps, as up until relatively recently few things could tempt us away from the lurid green smashing ability of Hulk - until we discovered squirrel girl's ultimate secret. A giant mech suit with a destructive ability that easily matches that of an angry Bruce Banner, that can also leap into the sky and fly around, Iron Man style. And let's not forget all those squirrel-based attacks either. It's such silly inclusions that are one of the (many) reasons we love the LEGO games and their co-operative smash-everything-in-sight fun - and what better way to keep the LEGO love going than with some downloadable add-ons, as revealed by the folks at Warner Bros.

With a total of five downloadable add-on packs set to be released over the coming weeks to months, each combining (at least) eight or nine brand new characters, and an extra playable level, it's the perfect way to make your Marvel Avengers go further. The packs announced so far are as follows, with the first two hitting consoles at the end of the month, and the remainder coming later in spring. Classic Captain Marvel Character & Level Pack When an exploding alien machine gun grants her super powers, Carol Danvers becomes Captain Marvel, taking out her arch-enemies to save the city of New York. On top of the level, you'll also get eight new characters and a couple of new vehicles - Captain Marvel, Captain Marvel's Skycycle, Helen Cobb's Plane, Kang The Conqueror, Magnitron, Moonstone, Poundcakes, Tic, Warbird, and Wonder Man. Classic The Masters of Evil Character & Level Pack In this LEGO-ised retelling of a classic 1963 comic book adventure, Baron Zemo and his Masters of Evil are up to no good, trying to lure out the Avengers and take them down once and for all.

Alongside this level, you'll be able to net yourself eleven new playable characters - Baron Zemo, Black Knight (Dane Whitman), Black Knight (Nathan Garrett), Enchantress, Executioner, Iron Man (Classic), Melter, Thor (Classic), Valinor, Whirlwind and Radioactive Man. But sadly, there's no Fallout boy to be seen... Classic Black Panther Character & Level Pack Retelling T'Challa's origin story, this level follows Black Panther and his sister Shuri, as they try to evade the chaotic invasion of their home land of Wakanda and save their mother from the clutches of the villainous Klaw. Nine characters and a new vehicle are included in this one - Aragorn, Black Knight (Augustine du Lac), Black Panther, Black Panther Skybike, Dora Milaje Warrior, Killmonger, Man-Ape (M'Baku), Shuri, Ulysses Klaw (Classic), and White Wolf. All-New, All-Different Doctor Strange Character & Level Pack In this level, the duo of Sorcerer Supreme Doctor Strange and Clea travel to the Dark Dimension to fend off the villainous Mordo and Dormammu, for reasons that are as yet unclear.

With this level pack, you'll get eight new characters included - Baron Mordo, Clea, Doctor Strange, Doctor Voodoo, Dormammu, Jennifer Kale, Mindless One Warrior, and Night Nurse. Hopefully they'll also include her long lost sidekick, Vick Vaporub. Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Character & Level Pack The final level pack sees the SHIELD team stuck in a precarious position, having failed to win over the enigmatic Inhumans. Having invaded the SHIELD Hellicarrier, it falls to the Agents of SHIELD to neutralize the Inhuman threat and uncover the secrets of Afterlife. With thirteen playable characters and a new vehicle, this one sounds like a biggie - Agent Daisy Johnson, Agent Leo Fitz, Agent Koenig, Agent Melinda May, Agent Bobbi Morse, Agent Jemma Simmons, Cal Johnson/Mr. Hyde, Deathlok, Gordon, Grant Ward, Jiaying, Lincoln, Raina, and The Bus are all included, although we are slightly disappointed we haven't got yet another Coulson to add to the already included Agent Coulson, and Agent Coulson (with glasses).

Each pack will be up for download for 2.49 each, or you can plump for the LEGO Marvel's Avengers Season Pass for 7.99 instead, which nets you all of the above as and when they become available, at a saving of 4.46, along with the following freebies: The Avengers Explorer Character Pack, featuring Iron Skull, Scuba Iron Man, and Space Iron Man The Avengers Adventurer Character Pack, featuring Hyperion, Scuba Captain America, and Space Captain America Thunderbolts Character Pack, featuring Atlas, Citizen V, Jolt, Mach V, Meteorite, Songbird, and Techno LEGO Marvel's Avengers, and the Season Pass/Downloadable add-ons, are available on all major consoles - the Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC - and is well worth picking up if you fancy some super hero-infused multiplayer fun. Unfortunately the above downloads aren't compatible with the PS Vita and 3DS versions, however. Price correct as of 13:13, Thursday 2nd of March 2017, may not include postage.
