Hi all,i am making a game which combines lego and warhammer. Seeking some advice on the level of interest. In order not to bore everyone, the rules are seperate on my website but would happy to upload a pdf if i can to here. I have got designs for the cards and images but would appreciate any input on firstly-how much interest there would be in this game-any thing people would really like to seeAlliance HeroCard to be used for Unit DetailsUndead KnightsDesign of Alliance heros Placed holder for the rules if anybody is interested Got any Mega Bloks down there? They have some cool figures and monsters and terrain.I like the card layout, though the artwork looked too dark to go with the border. There was a kickstarter mecha game that used legos. 'm interested, but if everything is divisible by 5, divide it all by 5. Hi all, thanks for the feedback so far. A few more pictures. I got my own designs down as some minifigiure printers almost ready to go. But for the time being i showed these is the prototypes based on legos.
In the starter sets i am thinking about 12 different types of figures belowAny ideas for the units would be greatly appreciated!AllianceGeneral Varernhoff- HeroHero Ability – once per a game, an unit which fails a moral test may reroll. “Leader of the North Alliance armies, Duke Varenhoff has lead offensives against the undead on numerous occasions”Alliance Knights“The frontfront of the Alliance offensive, very few units come off better than an alliance knight charge”Alliance Swordsman“the backbone of the Alliance army”Alliance Spearman“flexible infantry who can both harass the enemy from range and in melee”Alliance crossbowman“Infantry who pack a punch with crossbows”Alliance Dwarfs“from the disbanded mining camps of the east, dwarfs have joined the alliance to reclaim their sacred homeground”Undead Lord BarachHero Skill - Once per a turn may allow a unit to reroll all failed armour saves“Former hero of the alliance, slain and resurrected as an undead Lord”Undead Knights“Medium armoured knights on skeletal horses”Headless“resurrected from the dead, lacks skill but has toughness”Skeleton“the masses of the undead armyBone Archer“the artillery unit of the undead army”Bone Swordsman“somewhat elite units of the
undead army, able to skill it out with the best warriors of the Alliance”I have included their prototype pictures belowUndead HeadlessSkeleton WarriorsUndead KnightsAlliance KnightsSkeleton KingAlliance crossbowman basing it only lego castle at the moment! but both are interchangeable! thanks for the feedback! There is one big issue with home brewed Lego Games:You have to buy Lego to play them - which gets expensive real fast, as you cannot just buy a miniature in any configuration..Having to buy a regiment of horsemen with helmets shields and lances will cost me an arm and a leg..So, good luck creating your game!Be prepared that it wont be played by many! thanks kai, appreciate the feedback...we have some suppliers lined up, but let me know ....what kinda of prices range would you be willing to pay....my starter set would include1x general5 x alliance knights20 x spearman10 x swords manfor the undead1 x skeleton king15 x bone warrior10 x skeleton archer10 x skeleton soldierfor the bigger sets1x general5 x alliance knights20 x spearman10 x swords man10 x crossbowman10 x dwarffor the undead1 x skeleton king15 x bone warrior10 x skeleton
archer10 x skeleton soldier10 x undead knight10 x headlessalso included in the starter sets would be rule book, measuring sticks, dice and various others feel free to ask me any questions!!! i wont bitegetting some samples made up in the next two weeks Let me get this straight: you are buying Lego second hand in order to produce games which you are selling then? You better make sure, this is legal... u got a good lawyer kai? but in all serious will be using a lego alternative looks really interesting but how much this going to cost, Warhammer is a ripoffreally interested in seeing more units still working on pricing.....what kinda of units do you want to see What is it about Lego that makes it better than just using regular figures for your game? Is it equipment changes? Are there a series of cards for each possible equipment configuration? Does the variety justify using Lego? I have to agree here. Artwork: Make sure you have permission from whoever's art you're using.
Patent: If you are using Legos for a game, you'll want to make sure you get their permission. I've published a miniatures game called Fought Wheels: Matchbox Wars that uses 1/64 scale toy cars. I did not refer to a brand name nor does it require a certain brand of toys since there are multiple suppliers on the market. However, since the game requires specific toy components (at least 6 cars), the audience is quite limited. The game isn't generally popular because of these required components. Your idea looks pretty cool and I hope you can pull it off, but don't expect a lot of attention from a niche game. thanks for the feedback, i have found a great artist and will give her full credit for her workin terms of patenting, i wont be using lego but a variant of it, i will not referring to them in the final versionwill check out your game mike! Your idea looks pretty cool and I hope you can pull it off, but don't expect a lot of attention from a niche game. One more thing to consider:Boardgames are a niche hobby.
Wargames are a niche in that hobby.Miniaturegames are a niche within wargames.Lego (or megablocks or whatever brand) attract only a niche of gamers within the miniaturegamers. So, if you find more than 10 people or so playing your game, consider yourself lucky ... thanks!at least your a realist kai! Just checking that you're aware of BrikWars in case it's what you're looking to make. If your idea is different, more power to you. I'm interested in this. I have a lot of Lego Castle, Lord of the Ring, and Hobbit sets already though I don't have many skeletons. I was think just the other day that it would be fun to run a DnD or Pathfinder game with Legos representing players on a grid. hi thomas, will be posting some prototype designs soonthis game will be more wargaming like rather than rpg/dnd thoughIf your idea is different, more power to you.i am aware of brikwars but the key difference with my idea is the box set will come with all the minifigs, rules and things u need to start playing!!!
