For those that don’t know me, I’m Arthur Parsons - the Game Director at TT Games working on the console version of LEGO Marvel’s Avengers. You’ll be glad to know that the fabulous team at TT Games and I haven’t simply been lazing around; in the time that has passed since my last post we have been hard at work revisiting the Marvel Universe to make LEGO Marvel’s Avengers the best it can be. Which, believe it or not, is out NOW!!! I’ve been very quiet because we have been working our socks off (not literally as there are a few pungent socks in the office) to make LEGO Marvel’s Avengers, our second trip to the Marvel Universe, bigger and better than anything we’ve done before. Now that the dust has settled, and our socks have been laundered and put back on, we can look at what we have made with an immense sense of pride.
We can’t wait for all of you to play the game and see all of the amazing things we have put into the game. We set out on the project to make sure we looked at everything that makes the LEGO games so great and added to them. So you are going to see an awful lot of things in the game that you may not have seen before, however we’ll get back to that later. First and foremost, what is LEGO Marvel’s Avengers??? In a nutshell, the spiritual successor to LEGO Marvel Super Heroes; however, this time we are retelling the stories seen in Marvel’s The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron movies, obviously with our unique brand of humour and fun. In addition, we have included content from some of the other fabulous Marvel movies, including Marvel’s Iron Man 3 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. And that’s just scratching the surface. This game is the Marvel Universe as seen through a pair of Avengers glasses – a celebration of Avengers content from cinema, comics and TV. We have made it our mission to include fun content from all areas of the amazing Marvel Universe, and I have no doubt that you will really enjoy playing the game.
We have a bigger character roster than ANY LEGO game that we have previously made, and have tried to include everybody’s favourite characters. Each of these characters have unique moves and powers - just as you would imagine them to have - and unlocking them and then trying them all out is so much fun. We have characters that you will all know like Iron Man, who this time around is able to change into a variety of Iron Man suits by simply selecting them from his Jarvis interface. We have Hulk, Quicksilver, and all the characters you’ll expect from the movies. We have also included lots of other wonderful characters, like Dr. Strange, Hulkling, White Tiger, Wiccan and even Marvel’s very own T-Rex, Devil Dinosaur. The roster on this game is epic! Added to the huge roster we have reworked the combat in the game, Avengers is about working as a team, and what better way of doing that than teaming up. As such you can Team-Up characters to complete puzzles, but most exciting is being able to Team-Up characters together to perform awesome combo moves.
Teaming up each of the core Avengers results in a unique move, while you can Team-Up all of the other characters to perform a special combo move. It really is a fun new way to defeat enemies in the game. We’ve also expanded the amazing open world game experience. This time you can explore what our version of New York has to offer, but on top of that you are able explore a host of other locations around the world, including Malibu, Washington, South Africa and more. This game is HUGE!!!!! There are sooooo many iconic moments in the Marvel movies, and we have lovingly recreated each and every one of them, many of them incorporating the terrific LEGO playsets that you may well have at home like the Hulkbuster set. It’s so much fun being able to bring together our love of comics and our love of LEGO into a game that offers so much. I could go on endlessly about everything that is in the game, from the voice work in the game, the authentic soundtrack, the new vehicles, however I don’t want to spoil your adventure.
