IT'S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR It's snowing and the New York Toy Fair pictures are on the internet. It's like Christmas morning. So, I'll throw down some opinions about what was seen at New York, regardless of whether you care or not. I've mostly used this website  and BZPower's coverage as reference, as they got a good set of pictures in my humble opinion. Starting from the top:City: Eh. I mean, I'm satisfied with the Police Station I got a few years back (though I may begin to mod it into a different design eventually), so the endless chain of Police sets is pretty grating to a guy who doesn't want to make his LEGO Island homage city a total police state. I do like that now women are getting in on LEGO City's massive crime spree on her motorcycle.

Hell, it could be Minerva for all we know.My biggest problem is the cops headgear. They've switched out their classic white baseball caps and officer caps for the officer and baseball caps featured in the Minifigures line. To be honest, this only signifies I've been around these bricks long enough to be start being a massive nostalgia whore when LEGO changes something. In this case, I don't like the use of the Collectable Minifigure headgear and prefer the old styles. And it ruins any kind of consistent I have with my police force (other than Nick, Laura, and Rom, who get to be different). Sure, it's more detailed, but...eh. And I'm thankful that the classic pieces are being used outside of Police. If there is something I do want to pick up from Police City, it might be the helicopter because helicopters r kool. And police helicopters are battle helicopters, which is cool. Like last year (and maybe the year before), I prefer the vehicle line more. I could see myself getting that 4x4 with the jetskis, or that Tow Truck if I wanted it.

Definite pick-ups might be the monster truck and the race car (and the Grand Prix Truck from last year) because I'm excited LEGO is touching upon minifigure Racers again, like World Racers and now this Octan-sponsored racing vehicles. As for Trains...well, while I do want to get into LEGO Trains, the line up this year doesn't really impress me.Oh, and the Advent Calender. That criminal reminds me so much of the Brickster. He's got the bad guy mask and bad mustache. And unlike other LEGO City criminals, his beanie and legs are black. If he had the white and blue gloves, he could be the Brickster's reject cousin or a quality Brickster cosplayer. Hell, he probably already is.Once again, I express disappoint in the lack of buildings and how everyone is a crook or a cop in LEGO City.Arctic: I do like some of the sets. I probably won't pick many up (maybe the small ones). The helicopter is a definite no, though. That one-piece helicopter nose just irritates me more than any other use of that piece.

Friends/Disney Princess: Ha ha ha I have an opinion on this. Like the first year the Friends came out, I think these sets (the mall, juice bar) are better City sets than the City sets, barring you change some of the colors. As for Disney Princess, I almost want some, but the colors, while alright for Friends, really throw me off here. The pastel-colored Rapunzel castle is one such example. And the evil witch from Tangled isn't even in the set. Lame.*Insert tiring argument about Friends*Ghostbusters: Hell yeah! I'll pick this sucker up and set it along side my DeLorean and create a "classic 1980s non-Star Wars/Indiana Jones" collection. I do like the CUUSOO is allowing these iconic vehicles/scenes to be created without wasting a whole theme of sets no one cares about.Simpsons: Still a little baffled this is even a thing, but the house is honestly pretty cool.I haven't even looked at this. Even though many of you found me on BZPower, let me tell you: I joined for the LEGO forum and nothing more.

Bionicle and Hero Factory do not interest me in the slightest.I don't know anything about Chima at all and don't really care to know. I will say that the big built giant animals (like the mammoth) are cool and the pieces are neat, but the whole concept in general turns me off otherwise.Mixels: KNinjago: I need to get caught up on that show, but I don't really intend to get any of these. Look pretty neat though, continuing the "super-Power Ranger-ninja-high tech-evil-Overlord-fighting warriors.Star Wars: Clone Trooper love with the battlepacks. I'll definitely get those specialized troops. And the Death Star one for all those cool troops. And the Battle of Salucemi since it is essentially a Battle Droid battlepack with a clone. I may think about picking up Anakin's new Jedi Interceptor and the snowspeeder. I will definitely the Wheel bike set with Grievous and Obi-Wan. My first Star Wars set was the original wheelbike and Boga back in 2005. I must come full circle. The other sets look alright, except for those prices.

Not sure what to think of the Rebels sets.Marvel Super Heroes: Eh. I don't really know a lot about the Marvel mythos, so I can't say I'm terribly interested. The ridiculous Spider-Man vehicles really irritate me, since I don't believe Spider-Man requires vehicles. I might get the armored vehicle with Doc Ock. I also like the Red Skull Hydra tank. The big-headed guy (MODOK) is pretty freaky, though. No pictures of the Guardians of the Galaxy, so no opinions.DC Super Heroes: Or, "Batman and occassional appearances by other super heroes." Joker steamroller thing is cool. Penguin duck thing is cool. Riddler car thing is lame. Meh.The LEGO Movie: I saw the movie. It was the greatest. Recommend it to everyone. Altered my perspective on the LEGO Universe a bit. But still the greatest. On that note, if were to only get one LEGO set this year, it would be Benny's Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP! That classic space love fest just speaks to me in so many ways. I couldn't not get it. I'm also considering Emmet's mech, but it gets pushed away for the spaceship.
