LEGO Dimensions, the mash-up game that brings together many iconic fictional characters in one huge LEGO multiverse, is today releasing a brand new batch of worlds and characters in its latest collection of packs – including Harry Potter! We’ve had LEGO Harry Potter games before, but in LEGO Dimensions the Harry Potter Team Pack is taking things to a whole new level. Yep, starting today, fans can visit Harry in the LEGO multiverse, with playable minifigures of Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort, alongside the flying Ford Anglia and Hogwarts Express, both of which you can build and ride about in. Harry’s world joins a number of new expansion packs launched today, from Ghostbusters and Adventure Time to Mission: Impossible. When it comes to the Harry Potter Team Pack, players can unlock Harry Potter’s very cool-looking Adventure World, which includes new locations based in Hogwarts, Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley. As for the gameplay itself, you can fly Harry around on his little LEGO broom, cast an assortment of familiar spells and even produce a Patronus…

If you prefer the darker side of things, LEGO Lord Voldemort is playable too, with a selection of slightly more evil options. But, of course, the joy of LEGO Dimensions is putting your favourite characters in situations you never thought you would ever see them in. As seen above, you could theoretically make Harry hang around Chinatown from the Ghostbusters Story Pack, while standing outside the TARDIS from Doctor Who. Owners of the Back to the Future Level Pack could watch Harry ride round in Doc Brown’s DeLorean, if they fancied. Alongside the many mash-up possibilities, you can also unlock a new Battle Arena inspired by the Hogwarts Quidditch pitch. You’ll be able to potter about (yep!) in Diagon Alley, and even go and visit a LEGO-fied Fred and George in Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes. Have a gander at some more amazing moments from the game here. The wizarding world will soon have another chance to get a brick-ified makeover too. On 18 November, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will also be coming to the LEGO Dimensions multiverse with a new Story Pack and Fun Pack.Players will be given a chance to play through six action-packed levels of the Fantastic Beasts film, as well as meet up with new playable characters Newt Scamander and Tina Goldstein, who come complete with a lovely Niffler and Swooping Evil.

There will even be the opportunity to cast actual spells, including Diffindo, Reparo and Lumos, and interact with new creatures from the film, like the Bowtruckle. Those who get their hands on both packs could even introduce Harry Potter to Newt Scamander, blending two different eras of the wizarding world. Just when you thought Harry Potter couldn’t get any more magical... The Harry Potter Team Pack for LEGO Dimensions is released today. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Story Pack for LEGO Dimensions is coming soon, on 18 November. 8.5/10 The most fun I’ve had with LEGO The most fun I've had with a LEGO video game There is an ancient planet at the centre of the LEGO® Multiverse inhabited by an evil mastermind, Lord Vortech. It is said that he who controls the Foundational Elements that this planet is built upon, controls all of the Multiverse. Lord Vortech has vowed to be that ruler, summoning characters from a variety of LEGO worlds to help him find these building bricks of LEGO® civilization.

And only the combined powers of the greatest LEGO® heroes can stop him. Sign up for exclusive accessLEGO Dimensions: Harry Potter, Battle Arenas and other things we love about Year 2 LEGO DIMENSIONS enters its second year with some exciting new franchises and some brilliant competitive features. Here's why we love it... WARNERLEGO Dimensions is the best toys-to-life game so far, trumping the like of Skylanders and Disney Infinity thanks to its innovative toy portal, hilarious script and brilliantly diverse cast of characters.A year after launching with the likes of Back to the Future, Lord of the Rings, Batman and Wizard of Oz, LEGO Dimensions returns with a year's worth of classic franchises from the world of TV, film and gaming. That's on top of brand new game modes that add a competitive edge to the traditional LEGO Dimensions co-operative experience, plus new puzzle types, building blocks and more.So just in case you needed an excuse to go out and buy a ton of new LEGO toy packs, here's what Express Online loves most about LEGO Dimensions Year 2.WARNER1.

More AMAZING TV and film franchisesIt was always going to be hard to top the likes of Jurassic Park, Doctor Who and Ghostbusters, but LEGO Dimensions Year 2 has come close with Harry Potter, Mission Impossible, Adventure Time, Powerpuff Girls and, well, Ghostbusters - the new one that divided fans. It's also great news for anybody grew up in the 1980s, because LEGO Dimensions Year 2 will feature levels and toys from the golden age of TV and film. There's the A-Team, Gremlins, Knight Rider, Goonies, Beetlejuice and E.T: The Extra-Terrestrial. All it needs is He-Man, Indiana Jones and Teenage Mutant Hero (or Ninja) Turtles, and it would be perfect. But perhaps most exciting of all is the upcoming Sonic Level Pack, which has a November 18 release date. We can't wait to see more LEGO Sonic gameplay ahead of the big launch (you can watch the trailer below).2. Competitive Battle ArenasThe LEGO games have always featured co-operative gameplay, as parents and children team up to collect bricks, solve puzzles and generally smash the scenery to bits.

But LEGO Dimensions Year 2 turns multiplayer on its head, introducing a brand new competitive mode that take place in themed Battle Arenas. There are multiple game modes to enjoy, including Capture the Flag, Objective and Base Bash. They're all as fun as they sound - despite the perma-splitscreen camera. But the best game of all is Tick Tag Boom, as players frantically try to get rid of an explosive LEGO block before the timer runs out. It's like that exploding water balloon game you played as a child.3. New Stories and PuzzlesWhile fans of the franchise-hopping original LEGO Dimensions will be disappointed by the smaller scale of the new story packs, Year 2 will have more than just single level expansions. The new Ghostbusters pack features six levels that closely follow the plot of the film, which is the same as the Fantastic Beasts Story Pack - handy if you can't get tickets for opening weekend. There's also new dimension-hopping puzzles that make good use of your LEGO Portal, which remains a key part of the experience.

Iconic stadiums built with Lego bricks A British designer has used more than 25,000 pieces of Lego to build impressive models of Old Trafford, Anfield and Highbury. Chris Smith, from Altrincham, Greater Manchester, is on a mission to turn all 92 Football League grounds into intricate designs using the classic childrens' building bricks. Liverpool's Anfield stadium recreated with Lego 4. You don't need a new LEGO Dimensions Starter PackLEGO Dimensions gets the nod over some of the other toys-to-life games because the toy portal - the thing you put the figures on to make them appear in the game - is an integral part of the experience, and not just something the publisher can use to jack up the price. And fortunately - given how much it will cost you to buy all the figures - Warner isn't forcing you to buy a new portal, as all the toys and figures from both seasons work with the original starter pack. And if building that original toy portal was your favourite part of the original game, don't worry, Warner has got you covered...
