Please follow the steps below to set up your KAT loco S: 1. Prepare your PC; Operating system: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1 or later, Windows 10, USB port: 1x USB 2.0 or above, Storage space: 200 MB of space on your disk (for the dedicated software) 2. Connect your headset to the PC; Compatible headsets: Oculus Rift and Rift S, Valve Index, HTC VIVE and VIVE Pro, Pimax, and Windows Mixed Reality Headsets, etc. 3. Log into your Steam account and install SteamVR; Steam official website: http://store.steampowered.com/ 4. Install our dedicated software - KAT Gateway; Available directly on our website: https://www.katvr.com/pages/support; 5. Set up and calibrate your KAT loco; Please visit our website to download a video guide we prepared to teach you about the installation and first use of KAT Loco S. Tips before you start your first VR adventures with KAT loco S: 1. The status of your steamVR must be "Now play"; 2. Turn off your antivirus while installing Gateway or add it as a trusted program. 3. The direction and angle data of your Headset and KAT loco S sensors (displayed at KAT Gateway) should change accordingly when you move them. If not, please download Gateway from our website and install it again; 4. Some Steam games do not support the Free Locomotion mode by default. You may need to select it in the game settings. Please refer to “how to enable Free Locomotion Mode in the game?” in our FAQ. 5. Please carry out direction calibration after you entered the game.
What VR headsets is it compatible with?
As universal input devices, our solutions work with just any SteamVR content that supports OpenVR Companion and allows for free locomotion within the virtual environment. Any output devices (VR headsets) supported by such content can be used alongside our technology. This means you'll be able to use our products with just any HMD to play all SteamVR Free Locomotion games that support it.
Among others, the most popular VR headsets supported by SteamVR Free Locomotion games are: Oculus Rift and Rift S, Valve Index, HTC VIVE and VIVE Pro, Pimax, and Windows Mixed Reality Headsets.
Does KAT loco S work with Oculus Quest & Quest 2?
KAT loco S can be used with the Oculus Quest & Quest 2 for PCVR games via Oculus Link or wirelessly via Air Link / Virtual Desktop.

What games are compatible with KAT loco S?
KAT loco S allows you to play just any virtual reality games with support for Free Locomotion available on many different platforms including Steam VR and PlayStation VR and VIVE Port.
That means dozens of popular AAA titles and indie games are within your reach! Skyrim VR, Half Life: Alyx, Boneworks, Arizona Sunshine, the No Man’s Sky, Resident Evil 7, Pavlov VR, Rec Room, VR Chat and more!
Please refer to below information for game comparibility conditions of KAT VR devices.
KAT loco S's sensors are non-switched. After they stand for a few minutes, the sensors will enter sleep mode automatically to save power. When the sensors are in sleep mode, you can activate the sensors by shaking them.
Firstly, please make sure the receiver of your KAT loco S has been connected to the USB port of your PC(do not use a USB hub or extension cord) and the foot sensors are charged and paired successfully.
Secondly, the steamVR must be launched and it should shows "Now Playing", make sure you are launching games from steam platform, not Oculus home.
Thirdly, rotate your HMD and the data of "Headset Direction" displayed at KAT Gateway should change accordingly. Move the sensors and the data of "left foot" and "right foot" should change accordingly.
Forthly, in the option of "Locomotion Modes", w ith the Default Mode enabled, the software will automatically recognize the current game and load the pre-set settings configuration optimal for this game. Custom mode allows you to set a manual configuration. New users are commended to set to "Default".
Fifthly, some Steam games do not support the Free Locomotion mode by default. You may need to select it in the game specifications. Please refer to below instruction to set it.
Sixthly please check if the insteam version, it should be 6.1.0 or 6.2.0, instead of 0.0.0.and in steamVR settings, kat plug-in shoud turn on.
How to let some Oculus games starts from steamVR, instead of Oculus home?
For the below games, you can refer to the attached guide to change the configuration file to let it launch from steamVR, then it will work with KAT device properly with Oculus rift &rift S headset.
How to set up Virtual Desktop or Airlink?
1,You need a VR ready PC running Windows 10 (it won't work on a Mac).
2,You need to purchase the App Virtual Desktop from the Quest store, not the Rift/PCVRstore.
3,You need to install Oculus app to your smart phone or tablet and connect your smart phone or tablet to Qculus quest.
4,Download steamer app from https://www.vrdesktop.net/ and install it to your PC.
5, Open the Oculus app on your smart phone or tablet. In the Settings tab, tap on the headset and tap 'More settings'. In the list, you should now see Developer Mode. Once you have enabled developer mode it is a good idea to reboot your headset to be able to see it on the device.
6,Make sure your computer is connected to the same router and is on the same network as your headset，and your Qculus quest is connected to excellent 5Ghz WIFI connection.
7,Launch the Virtual desktop from your Oculus quest and find your username.
8,Open the Virtual desktop steamer on your PC and input your username and save.
9,In the virtual desktop app of your Oculus quest, select and connect to your PC. You will see your desktop once connected successfully.
10,Open steamVR on your PC, your Oculus quest icon will be show on steamVR as below.
12,Launch the steam game from your Oculus quest, for example, Pavlov VR or Half-life Alyx
What if the walking direction is deviated in the game？
Please follow below tips to fix this issue:
1. Incorrect direction calibration may cause movement direction deviation. Please refer to the guide video to carry out direction calibration again.
2. Please turn on the option "Independent head and body direction" on KAT Gateway and set mapping mode to "Default" in Locomotion Modes and try again.
3. Please change the direction source from "controller" to "Head" within the game.
