is NewsGuard independent? Let's check the facts!
BürgerinformativeNewsGuard is now questioning foreign news channels and the author of t.me/AntiSpiegel is afraid that it doesn't matter what he explains to them, his blog will hardly get a positive rating because - as we can see - when studying the primary sources, Anti-Spiegel.ru comes to different views than the "normal" mainstream media. Their formulation that the author of Anti-Spiegel.ru would "make false or unfounded allegations" points the way. If he does NewsGuard wrong with this assumption, he is happy if they show him, which of his sources is wrong and therefore led him to "false or unfounded allegations".
So, let's ask a counter-question about NewsGuard:
The constitutional courts of the western hemisphere emphasize that a separation of state and media is indispensable for free media. But why do the following persons sit on the advisory board of NewsGuard in the USA and how can this be reconciled with the formulation that NewsGuard writes "independent evaluations"?
- Michael Hayden: Former Director of the CIA, former Director of the National Security Agency (NSA) and former Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence. After all, that was the man who hunted one of the most important whistleblowers of our time: Edward Snowden. How did he become a guarantor of "independent ratings"?
- Elise Jordan: former speechwriter of Condoleezza Rice (Bush Administration)
- Anders Fogh Rasmussen: former Danish Prime Minister and former Nato Secretary General
- Tom Ridge: former First Secretary of Homeland Security
- Jimmy Wales: co-founder of Wikipedia (so Wikipedia controls itself via NewsGuard)
Those were just examples.
There is also a question about NewsGuard Germany: According to their website, Gordon Crovitz is Co-CEO, but he is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. It's not a government agency, but it's a political lobby group with political interests and very close ties to the US government. How is this compatible with NewsGuard's emphasis on independence?
We look forward to reading their answers to these questions and Anti-Spiegel.ru will be happy to answer any further questions they may have.
Best regards, Anti-Spiegel
Now bets can be placed: Will we get an answer? t.me/AntiSpiegel/748
If so, Anti-Spiegel.ru will publish it as well.
