How do you keep up with music from your home country, even if you have been living in the USA for 10 years
What is your life like? I am an Russki young guy who came to America looking for better life. In Russia I have never been wealthy, and certainly not near the middle class. I was filthy poor. Not me, per-say but my family. Russia's young adults weren't dependent on money when they grew older. So we had no choice of finding ways to earn our own money. There are a lot of schemes that resemble alcohol users asking their friends for money for their shared vodka bottles. Similar to the previous example the idea of looking for ways to earn quick cash and even buy bread. We were always hungry.
So, I came to America. It's nothing like New York or Brooklyn or Brighton Beach. This city reminds me many times of my home. It's loud and dirty, it smells like Russian, and the people who live there are rude. I've spent quite a bit of money there, mostly in Russian restaurants and bookstores.
Music is my passion, but books are my absolute favorite. It turns out that it's easy to find Russian literature on Kindle. This is why I no longer buy hard copies books. My wife, who's a hoarder isn't able to fit much in her house and I try to stay clear of purchasing unnecessary items. Stacks of books looks intelligent in the beginning, but after that they only looked sad until I moved them into the garage, which has plenty of space left to store my belongings..
Music is another matter. My job requires lots of driving, which is why I listen to tons of music. Also, as a Russian immigrants, I've never been able to appreciate any new music that I have discovered in the USA.. I don't like hip hop or rap. I don't also like the trendy stuff that children like to dance to too. I am in love with Russian music and the songs that were written in jail. They are still quite popular even though I have been gone for twenty years. Yes, they put everything on Youtube nowadays. When I get home from working, I can spend hours listening to YouTube music.
After a while, I had an extensive playlist that included more than 300 songs that I enjoy. When I play this music on repeat day and night, I have no problem getting used to music, because there's over 300 songs. That's quite a number. However, when I want songs to play in my car, I don't always have internet access. I need it to drive, to navigate. I prepare the playlist at home. As I am now at the top of the list, I take some songs on Youtube and convert them to mp3 files. Then I save the mp3s on an audio CD using my laptop. I then take the disc to the car to listen to. The site lets you take your Youtube playlist and print the songs. Each song can be stored on your computer as an MP3 file. It's then easy to transfer the song to an audio CD. Sometimes, I'm a little naughty and just make data CDs that don't play in my old car stereo. https://ytmp3.uno When audio is recorded, it's amazing the way technology is working. I don't have to be connected to the internet to listen to mp3s, all I need is CD to plug into the stereo slot in my car. The music from Russia was blasting in Manhattan as I drive around.
It's easy and inexpensive to save videos from Youtube as MP3 files. After that, you can download the MP3 files to your Smartphone. A friend of mine connected his iPhone to his car stereo and within seconds the device was playing excellent sound quality. He also was able stream Pandora radio and Spotify which means that you're not even requiring a lot of Internet for this. I'm thinking of trying this in the next.. However, I'll only use free WiFi.
