Use a marker to trace along the outside of the back of the chair, and then cut out the pattern. 2. Fold the fabric in half with right sides together to get two pieces at once and pin the pattern in place. Cut around it, making sure to leave a 1/2-inch seam allowance all the way around. 3. Cut 14 ribbons per chair to about 10 inches for the ties. Pin and lay them to the right side (not outside) of the fabric on one panel in seven places. Pin the other half of the panel over the top with right sides together, and sew all the way around the panel, leaving about six to eight inches along the bottom edge open. Trim the seam allowances to about 1/4 inch and around the curves, and then turn the panel right side out. 4. Hand-stitch the opening closed and sew a second panel exactly the same way to complete the covering for one chair back.

We’re all for comfortable environments but a touch of formality lends a sense of gravitas to a space that makes a home feel complete. The most logical place to incorporate a more refined tone is in the dining room.

But just because it’s a bit more proper than the other areas of the home doesn’t mean it has to be stuffy. That’s why we love bohemian dining rooms. They’re relaxed yet chic, and foster an inviting atmosphere where guests want to linger. Read on to see the most beautiful bohemian dining rooms around and get inspired to bring a worldly feel to your own space. We love that the boho vibe is balanced by simplified and restrained décor to keep the space from feeling like your kooky grandmother’s '50s dining room. by Dabito, via SmileandWave This dining room feels both moody and bright thanks to the rich blue walls and bright kilim. This dining room is a great example of how to get the boho vibe while exercising the restraint needed to create a refined space. Large plants anchor the room and add a touch of color in the otherwise neutral space, and make the room feel lived-in. A full set of matching chairs would have been lovely, but the use of a bench casually draped with a sheepskin throw prevents the space from feeling too formal. A cowhide rug adds a modern, slightly masculine touch. A large graphic piece of fabric in soothing gray and white hues is a smart alternative to a traditional painting or photograph. The thing we like the most about bohemian spaces is how layered they feel. But sometimes that can lead to a space that feels haphazard instead of thoughtfully collected. This dining room feels thoughtful and upmarket, while still paying homage to the globally-inspired vibe of the bohemian style. An overscale natural-fiber chandelier is an elegant and unexpected addition and nicely echoes the modern cane chairs.

The double-hung curtains enable the incorporation of an additional, complementary pattern without sacrificing natural light or privacy. A bold kilim ties it all together. Courtesy of Jeremiah Brent This dining room is more muted than most bohemian spaces due to its limited color story, but the white, cream, and natural tones look layered because of the many textures used throughout the room. A pair of oversize pendants add architectural interest, ground the dining space, and serve as a nice counterpoint to the more formal slipcovered chairs.
