This often occurs when the refrigerator door gaskets become damaged or dirty. A poorly sealed refrigerator or freezer door allows the humidity to build up inside the refrigerator, resulting in frost buildup even in frost-free models. You can clear the line with the help of a little hot water, but monitor the freezer to determine if this is a one-time occurrence or if you need to replace the door gaskets. Unplug the Sears Kenmore refrigerator from the wall outlet. Empty the contents of the freezer into an ice chest and cover the contents with ice to help keep the items frozen. Remove any shelves and bins from the freezer to access the rear freezer panel. Remove the screws that hold the air duct cover to the rear freezer panel in a top-freezer refrigerator and slide the Styrofoam duct from the floor of the freezer.
Remove the light bulb shield from the rear wall of a side-by-side refrigerator by squeezing the top and bottom of the shield together until the tabs pull from the slots cut in the wall. Unscrew the light bulb and slide the clip holding the ground wire off the top of the rear freezer panel. Find the screws holding the rear freezer panel to the rear wall of the freezer. Remove the screws and lift the panel from the freezer compartment to access the drain opening. Remove any ice buildup around the drain opening. You may need to use a hand-held hair dryer to melt the ice in the bottom of the freezer. Make sure to plug the dryer into a grounded outlet protected with a ground fault-circuit interrupter. Use towels to soak up the water in the bottom of your freezer as you melt the ice. Fill a container with hot tap water. Use a turkey baster to force the hot tap water through the drain line until you melt any ice obstructing the line. You should hear water dripping into the condensation pan beneath the refrigerator once the ice melts.
Replace the rear freezer panel and secure it with the screws you removed. Replace the Styrofoam air duct and air duct cover in the top-freezer refrigerator. Reattach the ground wire clip to the top of the panel in the side-by-side refrigerator freezer, reinstall the light bulb and replace the light bulb shield. Install any shelves or bins you removed. Empty the contents of the ice chest back into the freezer. Plug the Sears Kenmore refrigerator back into the wall.
