How do you Change, Replace, or Install Broken 1993-2003 Ford Ranger Door Handle (Exterior) Replacement Fits years: 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 All Ford Ranger for sale Drill with 1/4 inch bit Bolts with nuts (2) and relevant socket/ratchet size Step 1: Open the vehicle's door. Step 2: Using the flathead screwdriver, pry and remove the manual door crank's outer cover, exposing a T20 Torx screw (1). Loosen and remove this screw. NOTE: Some vehicle's may have power windows, in which case you can pry and remove the switch-plate and disconnect the wiring harnesses attached to its underside. Step 3: Loosen and remove the Phillips screws (2) located inside the interior door pull. Step 4: Pry and remove the large trim panel that surrounds the interior door panel. Step 5: Loosen and remove the Phillips screws (2) that secure the interior door panel to the door frame. One is located in the bottom/rear corner of the panel, while the other is just below the interior door handle.
Step 6: You can now remove the interior door panel. Step 7: GENTLY peel back the water shield. Be careful not to tear it! Step 8: Flip the small clip that secures the locking rod to the handle (in many models it will be yellow), and disengage the rod from the back of the exterior door handle. Step 9: Disengage the second locking rod from the back of the exterior door handle. Step 10: Using the hammer/punch, firmly punch out the center of each rivet. Step 11: Using the drill and 1/4 inch bit, SLOWLY drill out the center of each rivet. With the flathead screwdriver, you can now pry and remove what's left of the rivets. Be sure to fully remove the rivet remains. Step 12: You can now remove the exterior door handle. Step 13: Remove the locking rod from the back of the old exterior door handle and engage it to the new one. Step 14: Move the new exterior handle into position and secure it using the (2) bolts and nuts that you elected to use for this project.
NOTE: The nuts should be INSIDE the door. Step 15: Re-engage the retaining clip that holds the locking rod to the vehicle frame. Be sure that the rod is pushed up high enough to "trip"� the latch when opening it! Step 16: Reattach the interior door panel. Simply reverse the removal process.
