King size world record - KAUZ-TV: Newschannel 6 Now | King size world record A Wichita Falls business set a new world record Saturday afternoon.Johnson's Furniture & Mattress stacked 18 mattresses reaching 17 feet and one inch to beat the previous record of 16 feet 5.25 inches held by Verlo Mattress in Wisconsin. That record was set in 2014. But Saturday, manager Jeremy Johnson and his team set out to break that record and did despite some adversities. "We faced a lot of stuff like the wind," Johnson said. The wind nearly tipped the stack several times. This made the task seem nearly impossible to complete. In order to break the record, the stack needed to stand untouched for an entire minute. "It just felt like it took too long to do because it started buckling at the corners and you can't drag it across the mattresses, you kind of have to lift it up and set it down on it," Johnson said.When the wind died down a bit and team members stacked the mattresses just right, the stack stayed standing for a little over one minute.
Guinness World Record surveyors were on site making sure everything was being done by the book."I thought it was going to be easy but it's hard," Johnson said. Now a Texoma business holds a title in the Guinness World Record books.
