A Room with a View for Every Event! The Kalamazoo Nature Center's Visitor Center was designed by eminent 20th Century architect Alden B. Dow and features interactive exhibits and green technology. The Nature Center is located on 1,100 acres of rolling hills with a variety of habitats including mature beech-maple forests, wetlands and prairies, within a short walk from the meeting rooms. Whether you are planning a wedding, memorial, corporate function, graduation party, or business retreat, KNC has a variety of scenic indoor and outdoor venues just ten minutes from downtown Kalamazoo! Member's Room Photo Gallery The Members' Room Seats: 25 guests - Conference Style A cozy retreat for meetings of up to 25 people, the Member’s Room is ideal for smaller groups. Comfortable chairs surround the conference style table setting. A view of Cooper’s Glen and wildlife feeding stations is seen through floor to ceiling windows. Tree Top Photo Gallery $120/ for up to 4 hours *After hours fee is a per hour fee, in addition to the rental charge, for every hour past 5:00 p.m. Timber Framed Barn Event Package The Barn Event Package has limited dates available between September 1 - October 31 Capacity: 160 • Seated reception Kalamazoo Nature Center’s Timber Framed Barn is an excellent example of an English Bank Barn style building, built in the mid 1990’s by volunteers to house our Farmyard animals and provide programming space.
The post and beam construction features mortise and tenon joinery. In 2012 Kalamazoo Nature Center did an extensive renovation to our Timber-Framed Barn to provide a central point for our Children's Day Camp program. The Barn was remodeled to include heated, year-round classrooms on the Lower Level, running water bathrooms on both levels, a catering kitchen, a portico and covered porch. A new Amphitheater was build next to the building. Additionally, better lighting and electrical supply was added to the Upper Level and an improved drive and parking installed near the building. The exposed wooden timbers remain as the highlight of the building. The new rental pricing structure reflects these improvements and provides time for wedding and reception, plus setup/cleanup. The space is only available to rent after the end of Camp season from Labor Day weekend until the end of October each year. These fall dates are ideal for small ceremony and reception combinations. Due to the limited dates available for rent, the Barn is reserved solely for ceremony/reception packages.
