You should be able to pop the analog tapes into the camera and capture them the same way as the Digital8 tapes - the TRV 480E has analog pass-through and the capture software won't not know the difference.The DCR-TRV460 can play back analogue Hi8/8mm tapes and output them as a DV stream on the fly from its FireWire port. The TRV480 is presumably a later model but it doesn't guarantee it will behave like the TRV460. It may play back Hi8/8mm analogue tapes but that doesn't necessarily mean it will digitize them and output them as a DV stream. If the TRV480 can indeed digitize Hi8/8mm tapes and output them as a DV stream from the FireWire port, whatever program is used for capturing should be set to "No DV device control". The software captures my Digital 8 tape from my SONY DCR -TRV 480E with no problem. However I have over 20 Analogue Hi 8 tapes that I would like to 'digitise' via my PC for editing. Can't seem to get Pinnacle to manage the job and as far as Pinnacle support is concerned - well, that s why I ventured on to this site!
