The game is the same story as the latest movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron . Everybody’s favourite toy company has transcended from their usual wares to include fun tie-ups with Marvel, DC, Disney, Star Wars and other franchises. What you didn’t know is that Lego whips all these franchises into a really good video game. Now one of the biggest blockbusters Avengers gets the brick treatment in the form of Lego Marvel’s Avengers. What is it about? The game is essentially the same story as the latest movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron . You play through the movie with expanded scenarios to fight enemies. This includes all the key movie sequences like the Hulk vs HulkBuster Iron Man. You also get to play several sequences from the earlier Avengers movies. Plus, these are interspersed with funny interludes, often of the slapstick kind, offering a lighter take on the franchise. The game has made use of the actors voice work directly from the movies, which is fine, except it seems like the developers ripped them right off the DVD, with background sound and all.
Then they went right ahead and sprinkled it across the game, sometimes at random moments that feel out of place. The best part of the game is you get to play as all the regular Avengers, a supergroup comprising Iron Man slash Tony Stark, Thor, Hulk the green giant, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. They're joined by newcomers The Vision, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. In addition, there are characters from the first movie and the other single Avenger movies, television shows also make a comeback, like Agent Coulson, Loki, Winter Soldier, Falcon and more. There’s also upcoming future Avengers like Ant-Man and variations of characters from the movies and even Iron Man’s armour variants. How does it play? Think of Marvel Avengers as a fun beat ‘em up. A game where you have to play out various scenarios by tag teaming against hordes of enemies. While the action bits are fun -- especially playing as The Hulk -- the game is supplemented with a puzzle element, where you have to use the Avengers powers to pass stages.
When you pummel an enemy or destroy a few of the background stuff, everything gets broken into their component blocks which you need to collect. As a result, there's a lot happening on the screen at all times. It becomes difficult to figure out what to do sometimes, as it takes a while to spot and understand the cues prompting you to build something. Things get easier and a lot more fun if you have a second player to take control of the other character with you. The best part though of the game are the unlocks. You can unlock and play as over 200 characters, many of which are a first in the series. You can play as all of them, even the lesser known ones like Skaar and Ronan the Accuser and fun ones like Stan Lee, Stan Buster and Iron Stan. Sure the selection may not include the X-Men and other characters in the Lego Marvel Superheroes, but it’s still an impressive roster. By far, it’s one of the best reasons to play the game. While exploring the real-world theme, teams will learn about simple machines as they build a model made of LEGO® elements with a motorized part. They will also learn to present information through aShow Me Poster. Throughout their experience, teams will operate under the Jr.FLL signature set of Core Values, celebrating discovery, teamwork, and Gracious Professionalism®. We ask that everyone associated with every Jr.FLL® team understand and honor these Core Values. We are a team. We do the work. Our coaches and mentors help us learn, but we find the answers ourselves. We share our experiences and discoveries with others. We are helpful, kind, and show respect when we work, play, and share. We call this Gracious Professionalism™. We are all winners. Teams are comprised of 2-6 children, ages 6-9. Teams can be made up of neighborhood groups, school groups, home school organizations, family members, and after school programs. Any adult can start a team at their local level. Children build a Model using LEGO® elements, based on the year’s theme, with both a simple machine and at least one moving part. Teams research the Challenge theme and present their findings on a Show Me Poster. Coaches have access to the Challenge Materials for the season once they have registered a team. Jr.FLL® teams generally meet for 6-8 weeks. Each meeting lasts for about one to two hours, once or twice a week. Many teams meet after school or during another group activity. Important Registration Information For Jr. FLL India Jr.FLL Events are non-competitive; they are meant to be a celebration of each team’s work. The Date of birth of the participant must fall between 1st Jan 2007 to 1st Jan 2010 in the year of competition release i.e. 1st Jan 2016. No team member may exceed the maximum allowed age in your region. Allowed age(s) is 6-9 years. The registration fee is Rs. 6000.00 (Six Thousand Only) per team.
The registration fee is non-refundable. Jr.FLL is a very flexible program in that it requires teams to build unique models made of LEGO elements. Many teams already have LEGO elements with which they can construct an appropriate model which has one motorized moving part and one simple machine. There is no specific set needed to participate in the program.
