PRICEFrom 1.350,00 € (incl. 19% V.A.T.)Some things never get old—like Swedish designer Yngve Ekström's Lamino chair, which has been in production since its 1956 debut.

Its pale, curvy bent wood lines, mirroring forms found in nature, continue to beguile: In 1999, interiors magazine Sköna Hem declared the Lamino to be “the best Swedish furniture design of the 20th century.”Swedese, the company cofounded by Ekström in 1945 and now led by creative director Monica Förster, is interested in finding new ways to look at the iconic Lamino. After partnering with Nudie Jeans Co for its 70th anniversary, the company revealed its latest collaboration with the Amsterdam-based Finnish artist Kustaa Saksi at the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair last week. Saksi is known for his colorful and psychedelic designs. “I’m filtering the things I see to my own abstract, surreal world,” said the Finn when asked to describe his aesthetic, which has attracted clients like Nike, Marimekko, and Salvatore Ferragamo. “Ideas of nature seen from the abstracted edge of perception characterize almost all of my work.”The red thread that links Saksi’s work with Ekström’s is a connection to the earth and sky.

And in fact, “Nature” is the name Saksi gave the fabrics (available in five colorways) he designed for Swedese. Their creation was a departure for the artist who is mostly focused on making limited editions and one-offs, rather than textiles for residential and contract use. Saksi drew inspiration for his “Nature” fabrics, “from the Nordic forest: moss, bark, and lichen creating an organic texture that complements the shapes of the classic. I wanted to create a surface that is rough and textured, soft and tactile at the same time,” says Saksi. “It’s camouflaging shapes that are only visible up close.” Coincidentally, Saksi’s designs tie-in to the stand-out-from-the-crowd camo trend that we’re seeing on the Fall 2017 runways and on influencers.Den begärda sidtiteln innehåller ogiltiga tecken: "%C3".×RegisterAs a registered customer at Bukowskis, you have access to:Leave absentee bids in the online catalogueView your purchases/salesParticipate in the auctions liveAccess to Bukowskis Market's archiveCould not loginLogin failed due to technical reasons.

Pretty much every time I walk by the Skandium Store near my flat I see this chair. It’s lovely in person, just as it seems in the photos, with quiet lines and impeccable craftsmanship, plus it’s comfortable (as all lounge chairs should be). Voted the Twentieth Century’s ‘Best Swedish Furniture Design’, it’s sure to be a piece that you won’t get tired of. Available with upholstery in sheepskin (black, white, grey, anthracite grey, sand or coffee-brown), fabric or leather. Available in beech, stained beech, oak, cherry wood, oak/teak and walnut. Share this: Available from Huset, 2,305.00 . “To have designed one good chair might not be a bad life’s work." When a Swedish interior magazine asked its readers to vote for their single favorite design of the 20th century, they chose the Lamino easy chair, designed for Swedese in 1945 by Ekström, the founder of the company.
