To say I'm delighted with the results would be an understatement.I have a dicey back and need a firm mattress- thick memory foam, even of the densest sort doesn't do it for me, too much give. This foam is JUST right (for me, anyway), super-firm yet comfy, and a bargain, guaranteed to last 7-10 years, and the seller is GREAT (the foam came in 2 DAYS!), plus they're friendly, answer emails/questions.Anyway, this muslin mattress cover was easy enough to put on.
I bunched it up at one end of the foam (like a sock or a stocking, beginning at the toe), and inched it up the side of the mattress/foam, a few inches at a time, first one side then the other, going from side to side, until the foam was completely encased, then zipped it up. The zipper is at one end of the cover, and is just a standard zipper, so I'm guessing you'd have a tough time man-handling and putting any stress on the zipper to accommodate, say, a 7" mattress, you'd have to take your time. It probably goes without saying, but I think if you tried to feed the mattress into the mattress pad with it fully extended, without inching it on, it would put too much stress on the zipper and it would break.I can see the mattress pad would have easily accommodated thicker foam too, such as two of these: Foam Sheet 3" x 30" X 72", or I could have used a 2" piece and a 3" piece to make a 5" thick mattress, or added a thin layer of memory foam. Anyway, I'm happy as pie and thought I'd mention the foam seller, Fabric Bravo, who ships FAST and answers any and all questions promptly, and I can vouch for the superb quality of their foam.

I wanted to compare the two and, if they were close to equal, keep them both so I'd always have a clean one on hand for unexpected middle-of-the-night bedding changes. I ultimately chose to return the Happy Little Mill (HLM) cover and will be buying another of one from Margaux & May (M&M). Had I only bought the HLM cover, I would have been happy enough and kept it. The M&M one was just a step above.The primary reason why I prefer the M&M is the sound factor. I had just purchased a memory foam mattress in part to get away from the plastic sounds of his older spring mattress. I didn't want the mattress cover to bring back the noise I had just eliminated. M&M is almost completely silent when you move around on it. HLM was noticeably louder though not terribly so. I also loved how soft the terry-cloth top of the M&M was. It gave it an extra little feeling of cush. The HLM has a plain fabric that is soft to the touch as well, but lacks that plush feeling of M&M. Lastly, neither had much of a smell and I could notice no plastic or chemical smell in the M&M after I washed it (I washed it before use).
I didn't try putting the HLM on the mattress (I had already concluded it was going back) so I can't compare the two there -- but I can say that I was please with the snug fit of the M&M on my 5" deep foam crib mattress. I've washed it twice and used it for 6 weeks so far and I'm pleased with how it washes and how flat it lays on the bed. It's totally unnoticeable through the sheet, as it should be. There have been no issues with my son waking up sweaty or overheated as can sometimes happen when sleeping on a waterproof mattress cover. I have not yet had an occasion to observe it's waterproof claims but will certainly update this review if it fails to meet my expectations in that arena.Update: 4 months after my review and I still love this protector.
