The Library of Congress > Information Bulletin > November 1997 'Book Palace of the American People' I plan on using RCI to book our all-inclusive vacation to one of the Palace Resorts in Mexico and have a few questions. 1. Is it worth it? If we prepay we get half off the actual price but don't get the $1,500 in bonus resort money (which looks like it's ok according to most). But I'm just wondering if we save our points and book through a package instead, airfare included, etc. Has anyone used RCI to book a Palace resort and if so did you feel like it was worth it? Just trying to nail down our summer trip. You probably want to compare booking through RCI vs. booking through a Palace VIP member. If you book through a member, you save a lot and still get the $1500 resort credit, plus all the other member perks. Thanks - how would I book through a Palace VIP member? Where could I find that? The cheapest option is still booking through RCI. You can find that in several threads on this topic.

And you still get $750 resort credits with booking with RCI when you attend the timeshare presentation, which was a piece of cake in my opinion. Edited: 11:00 am, February 19, 2012 Margariet may be right. I don't know about the RCI stuff. I pm'd you info about booking through a member if you are interested. I am not a member myself. We booked thru RCI, it was a great deal! When there, we attended a TS presentation, got the $750 AND became members. I'd say it is a good value either way- just depends if you are going to use your RCI week/points elsewhere before they expire. Personally, I would not attend a timeshare presentation on my vacation just for some perks, but I have no intention of ever becoming a timeshare member. I have read too many stories on here of how supposed 90 minute presentations dragged on for 4 hours. Just compare the options with the cost. If your saving hundreds and hundreds of dollars i would forget the Palace Dollars. If you'r only saving $100 or $200 I would book the Palace through a Presidential Palace member (blk bracelet).

Good deal through the member and you receive added perks. The Palace dollaars do have some value. I like having them but could get away with not having them to save lots of money on my vacation. I booked through RCI for our May trip to Adventura Spa Palace. We took the one that was half off the allinclusive fees $1182 (paid 30 days in advance) for 2 adults in one room no Palace dollars. We booked it as an extra vacation $339.00 for the week and didnt have to use our vacation week. I figure $1521 for 2 was a great deal. I will report back after the trip. Good luck and if someone out there has a memeber deal that can match or beat $1521 please post so we can book something for our next trip. Member rate at the Aventura in May is higher than that, but going there without any member perks (especially the 1,500 palace dollars which can ALL be used at the spa there) would blow that deal for me. You can easily spend the difference between what you paid and our member rate in cash if you go to the spa- whereas you would still have Palace dollars left over.

Question about RCI- do you get transfers included in that price as well or no? If not you're saving about $600 by the time you pay for those out of pocket, but again don't get the palace dollars or the additional perks (preferred room assignment, included spa treatments, possibly included tours depending upon what they've got going on). Edited: 11:26 pm, February 19, 2012 Going to Moon Palace next month for spring break on RCI exchange. Got a room for friends also. Prepaid 30 days before departure and got 1500 credits per room and transport to/from airport is included. I see the real savings with RCI if you have a 3rd and/or 4th person in room. The Concierge directed us to some outstanding restaurants within easy walking distance. 눉Nothing - we had a wonderful stay.눇Lunch in the Garden Court, while expensive is worth the experience. Their crab salad (when crab is in season) is excellent. Our rooms were very comfortable and quiet. 눉$60.00 a day valet charge and no one mentioned it until check out. Truly took away from a otherwise GREAT STAY.눇Staff was wonderful

눉Nothing much to dislike except the exorbitant parking fee. $50+ a day more than offsets any great deal on the room rate.눇We were in the City to celebrate an anniversary. I grew up in the Bay Area and remembered the Palace as being a beautiful hotel back in the 1960s. It is as beautiful and elegant as I remembered it to be. The location is perfect for access to Union Square, the Embarcadero, the Cable Car, etc. The grand lobby is spectacular. 눉hidden fees!눇the staff was great and the lobby, bar and restaurant are very beautiful. 눉Whatever room I was in, there was a loud sound from the heater/air conditioning? 눉Need a covered awning when raining if waiting for a taxi.눇High stud ceilings and large room. Bed and pillows were fantastic and the location to many services and eating places. 눉The service was poor. When we asked for glasses to be brought to our room because the cleaning staff didn't replace then, it took them almost 30 minutes.눇Given the historical nature and expense of this hotel, the customer service should have been better. They didn't replace the drinking glasses when they cleaned the room, the toilet leaked all night and they had no coffee or tea in each room. 눇The Palace is a family favorite, 4 generations of my family have stayed there since the early 1900's 눇A pristine walk into a different era.
