To adjust the truss rod, looking from the headstock down to the body, you turn clockwise to decrease the gap in the middle (straighten the neck), counter clockwise to produce more bow or a larger gap. 1/4 turn at a time, no more, and let it settle for a minute or two before checking each 1/4 turn. Go slow, take your time.
How does a truss rod work? A truss rod is a metal bar (usually made from steel or graphite) that reinforces the neck of a guitar, bass, or other stringed instruments. When tuned up to pitch, the strings will put several hundred pounds of pressure on the neck -more than enough to bend it.

To increase the gap turn the truss rod counter-clockwise. When you're ready to adjust the truss rod you will enter your Allen wrench or your screw driver into the truss rod adjustment hole. When turning you will only need to make slight movements and then check the string height visually or with a ruler. Recommended String Height
A truss rod is an interior metal bar running the entire length of a guitar's neck. When tightened, it counteracts the tension created by the strings (the strings pull the neck forward; the truss rod pulls the neck backward). Proper use of the truss rod enables you to "balance" the tension on the neck and adjust the amount of bow to fit your playing style. The truss rod is fairly rugged, so you ...

Having the ability to turn corners is pretty important, so tie rod ends play a large role in any vehicle's safety. Deceptively simple looking, the outer tie rod end hides some internal parts. Here's a breakdown of the different pieces: The long shaft body passes steering movement to the ball stud
How do turnbuckles WORK ? A turnbuckle is a device used to adjust the length (or tension) of rod ends, cables, ropes, or tie rods. The picture below shows two threaded rod ends, one screwed into each end of a metal turnbuckle body, one with a left-hand thread and the other with a right-hand thread.

Wooden guitar necks naturally twist and warp. So we make small, occasional truss rod adjustments to return the neck to an optimal playing position.
Rigs of Rods is a free and open source vehicle simulator that uses soft-body physics to simulate the motion destruction and deformation of vehicles.
Like I said, I understand intuitively what will happen, but when I try to picture the individual particles of the rod I can't understand why the rod rotates instead of just moving off as a whole away from my impulse. If I cause part of the rod to move up, shouldn't all of the rod follow, just like if I grab the rod at its edge and lift it up?
If it feels too tight to adjust, don't force it. Contact me and I'll tell you what to do next. Over-bent? Turn anti-clockwise (Image credit: Future) If, when you've eyeballed the neck, it's 'over-bent' (higher in the middle than it is at the headstock and body ends) adjust the truss rod key, wrench or screwdriver, anti-clockwise.

The truss rod can be adjusted with an adjusting screw or nut located either at the headstock or the body end of the neck. When we tighten the adjusting nut, the truss rod is pulled by the nut, putting it under tension.
I often see advice here akin to "turn it 1/4 and then wait a day before you do anything" or "only turn it 1/8 at a time" or whatever particular thing it is. Of course if you feel like your truss rod is frozen solid, incredibly tight or has some other problem then take it to a luthier - but if it moves, just go for it! A few specific points:

How To Correct It Look at the Truss Rod Adjustment Nut straight on, whether it's on your headstock or at the bottom of the neck where it meets the body. To correct Upbow, you'll need to tighten the Truss Rod by turning it clockwise or as it's better known ' righty-tighty'.
If there's insufficient relief or a slight back-bow, turning anti-clockwise will release some rod tension and hopefully allow the strings to pull the neck back into shape. If possible, make truss-rod adjustments with the strings tuned to pitch and retune after each turn.
Lining your retinas are millions of special cells called photoreceptors. These cells are the key to turning light that enters your eyes into a form your brain can use for your sense of vision. Photoreceptors can be rod- or cone-shaped, and those shapes are part of how you can see in dim and bright conditions, and how you can see colors.
Although the type of loading and deformation are different, the statically indeterminate problems involving the torsion of rods are approached in the exact same manner as with axially loaded structures. We start with a free body diagram of twisted rod. Take, for example, the rod in the figure below, stuck between two walls.

One of the most obvious reasons a guitar may not play well comes down to a bent or warped guitar neck. Guitar kits will often require some truss rod adjustment after assembling. Adjusting your neck is often essential to provide a good playing experience. But how is this actually achieved? Depending on the severity of the problem most of the time this is a relatively straightforward task. It's ...
This refers to the bend or flex of a rod but, more specifically, how much and where this happens when a rod is "loaded" (by a fish or by a lure for example). Medium action rods, the likes of which are common in bass fishing, bend fairly deep across the length of the rod.
Ground rods ensure safe electrical grounding by channeling excess electricity into the earth. Learn about their design and function.
In Dan, it was. You could see his bone dying because it wasn't being strained where the rod was. Above the rod and below the rod, his bone had become more dense, but between the rod it was becoming more porous. (Had more holes in it -less dense.) When he had the rod removed, he immediately laid down a bunch of new bone.
