The GB Pockit weighs a barely-there 4.3kg and set the Guinness World Record for being the world’s “smallest commercially available folded pram” in 2014 due to its minuscule folded-up measurements of 35 x 30 x 18cm. Designed by GB (an amalgamation of parenting brands GoodBaby and Cybex), the Pockit stroller can be used from six months to around three years, and comes in six colours. The Pockit can be folded in two ways, both of which promise to be only two steps, meaning that it can be folded and unfolded in a few seconds.  And of course it easily fits into an overhead locker on an airplane. Read more about the GB Pockit stroller here. The GB Pockit stroller is available at John Lewis and Toys R Us. Compare deals from top retailers The Babyzen Yoyo 0+ folds into a record-breaking package of only 52 x 44 x 18 cm, which is half the volume of a standard umbrella-stroller. It can fit just anywhere: in the smallest car boots or behind a front seat, under a train seat, and even in the overhead compartment of a plane.

With a useful carry handle and weighing only 6.5kg, this is truly a handbag pushchair. Read the full Babyzen Yoyo 0+ review You can buy the Babyzen Yoyo from John Lewis or Natural Baby Shower. At only 5.9kg with a one hand open and fold, roomy seat and tall handlebar, it's a miracle the Recaro Easylife also folds down to a tiny 59 x 27 x 50cm. It also has a very robust feel for a compact and our reviewer felt it was great for holidays and day trips. Read the full Recaro Easylife review here You can buy the Recaro Easylife on Amazon, Boots, Argos or Mothercare Weighing in at just less than 6kg, the Mountain Buggy Nano not only folds down small enough to fit in an aeroplane overhead locker, but it's light enough to lift into one as well. Its folded dimensions are 51 x 30 x 54cm (with wheels) or 46cm without. With its cute travel case and built-in car seat adapters, this is a great little buggy for family holidays and city breaks. You can buy the Mountain Buggy Nano at Kiddicare, Precious Little One, or on Amazon. The Phil & Teds Smart weighs just 7kg - a feature that's partially due to the innovative new material the seat pod is made of. The Smart folds like a step ladder - with the seat attached, the rear wheels come forward to meet the front ones. Then, the handles are pushed down inline with the top of the seat. To get the folded dimensions down to 75cm x 45cm x 20cm, you just remove the wheels. Read the full Phil & Teds Smart lightweight buggy review The Phil & Teds Smart buggy is available from Precious Little One. The Takeoff was the talk of the baby world in 2009 after contestants on The Apprentice were tasked at selling it for the BBC1 reality show. Now it’s had a revamp and is being sold under German brand ABC Design and distributed in the UK by OBaby. Suitable from 6 months up to 15kg or approximately when your little one is 3-years-old, it’s a lightweight stroller with a 5-point harness and now, it's travel system compatible.

But it’s the fold of the Take Off that's a winner, with petite dimensions of 50 x 49 x 39cm. Check out the full review of the ABC Design Take Off. You can buy the Take Off from Mothercare or House of Fraser. Although the iCandy Raspberry's fold and lock mechanism has a definite knack to it, our reviewer noted just how easy it is to store. Aside from being small in size when folded (36.6cm x 54cm x 85.5cm) the buggy is also freestanding when folded, taking away the need to try and balance it against a wall somewhere, while MFM parents also commented on the buggy's easy steer. Read the full iCandy Raspberry review here You can buy the iCandy Raspberry from John Lewis and Mothercare. GB has already impressed us with its teeny Pockit stroller and this, the GB Qbit, is the more substantial compact pushchair from the brand. It’s still light at 7.2kg, but features a more protective design with its canopy, bumper bar and adjustable footrest, and it comes in a choice of six colours.

Its one-handed fold gives it the compact size of 38cm x 48cm x 52cm. Good news for families needing to switch from car to buggy – the GB Qbit can also be used as a travel system and is compatible with GB’s own car seats, as well as Cybex models, when using the optional adaptors. For using from newborn, upgrade to the GB Qbit Plus (£250), which has a lie-flat recline and cushioned head rest. Read more about GB’s models here. You can buy the GB Qbit stroller from Kiddicare, and Natural Baby Shower. The first lightweight stroller from all-terrain specialists Baby Jogger, the City Tour has all the things you know and have come to expect from a Baby Jogger pushchair, like the one-hand fold, extended UV50+ canopy, and great suspension. But, the big plus is that it also only weighs 6.4kg, and folds up to 45.7cm x 25.4cm x 55.8cm. Like many light buggies of today it also comes in a handy back-pack style bag, making it easier to carry when it's folded.

It is worth noting that it's not travel system compatible, however. Read more about the Baby Jogger City Tour and watch how to fold it here. You can buy the Baby Jogger City Tour direct from Baby Jogger, or from Kiddies Kingdom, or Precious Little One. Although the folding mechanism isn’t one-handed on the updated Bugaboo Bee 3, the system does fold down in one movement and our reviewer found this one of the easiest buggies to fold, once you get the knack. When folded, the Bugaboo Bee 3 measures 89cm x 46 cm x 30cm and can be stored on its side, or flat when folded - easily fitting in the boot of all but the very smallest cars. Read the full Bugaboo Bee 3 review here You can buy the Bugaboo Bee 3 from John Lewis or on the Bugaboo website. There are two types of double buggy: twin, where kids are side-by-side, and tandem, where one sits in front of, or above, the other. Tandems are longer, but thinner, and therefore easier to get through doorways, while twin strollers’ advantages include usually being more lightweight, easier to steer and giving kids the same view.

If you’re buying a transport system for twins, make sure both seats are suitable from birth and if you’re buying for a baby and toddler, look for seats that can be reclined independently of each other. You may also want to consider buggies that can go back to being a single buggy when the older one has grown out of it. Think about where you’re going to use your buggy as some aren’t great on public transport or on rougher terrain, and find out how compact it is when folded, especially if it needs to fit in a car boot. 1. Joie Aire Twin: £119.99, argos.co.uk At 11.6kg, this is great-value and lightweight. It boasts features including dual wheel suspension, independently reclining seats, adjustable leg rests and a one-hand fold. You can use it from newborn to 15kg and the pink and blue seat covers are reversible. On solid ground, you can even push it with one hand, but it is quite wide so you’ll need to take that into account. Little ones are very unlikely to get wet (or sunburned) in this buggy, thanks to the great hood coverage.

They’ll also be nice and comfy, thanks to the good-sized seats, while parents will like the easy access to the shopping basket. It’s sturdy, easy to steer and folds effortlessly. Choose from black or red models. This isn’t the celebrity choice of double buggy for nothing. The Ferrari of strollers, it moves like a dream, is a head-turner to look at –  there are different colour options to choose – and boasts all the attention to detail you’d hope for with such a hefty price-tag. It’s easy to clean and is flexible, as well as suiting kids of different ages, all the way from birth. Can be a bit tricky to fold, though. You can always count on Cosatto to combine a funky statement look with genuine practicality and they’ve excelled themselves with the Supa Dupa - a bigger, more robust version of the long-standing favourite You2 Twin stroller. It’s simple to set up, fits easily through doors and is great for solid ground, although we found it struggled on grass and rougher terrain and wasn’t the lightest we tried.

Choose from four eye-catching colour combos. You get a lot of bang for your buck with this new pushchair that offers multiple seating options for different-aged children, including a standing platform and bench seat. Even top-notch buggies can be difficult to fold, but this one is a doddle, and it stands up when folded too. Better for urban trips, though, as it doesn’t fit easily in some car boots and it’s not great on gravel and grass. Yes, it’s top dollar, but this stylish, sturdy and exceptionally easily manoeuvrable buggy does include two seat units and two carrycots, which are approved for overnight sleeping. If you’re not quite ready for a double buggy, you can purchase the Peach 3 as a single stroller and later convert it. Suitable for all terrains. If you love the great outdoors, this is absolutely the double buggy for you. Suitable from birth to four years, it can cope with any kind of uneven ground, yet it still manages to look great. It’s highly flexible – you can get a toddler board to attach for older little ones to stand on – it’s slimmer than most on the list and it stores away easily.

It’s robust too, so you’ll easily be able to sell it on when you’re finished with it. 8. Chicco Echo Twin Pushchair: £150, very.co.uk This is an excellent price for a heavy-duty double buggy that can take a lot of knocks, as well as having an easy one-hand fold mechanism. It claims to be suitable from newborn to toddler, although we found babies need to be on the larger side and able to support their own heads. It’s also quite wide, so bear that in mind if you’re going to be taking a lot of public transport. Tandem buggies are great for parents who don’t want the width that normally comes with double strollers. This stylish one is the lightest tandem available, at just 11.5kg, and it’s compact when folded, as well as being simple to fold. Children get a smooth ride and it’s easy to push. It’s not the easiest to carry on stairs, though, and the tandem add-on costs extra. 10. Baby Jogger City Mini Double: £449, amazon.co.uk This lightweight, compact buggy is ideal if you want something to jog with.

It’s also great for anyone who has a toddler and a baby as one can sit up while the other lies back and sleeps. The seats are extra-comfy and there’s a vent at the back to keep your baby cool – also helped by the generous hood which means you don’t need a parasol on hot days. We found easy to fold, too. 11. Hauck Duett 2: £269.99, amazon.co.uk This is a good-value multifunctional option for children of different ages or as a single buggy, with lots of different positions to choose from. It’s not the easiest to fold, but fine once you get the knack. It’s lightweight and a breeze to push, with an adjustable handle. And kids find it comfortable. This is a brand that’s long been known for making practical, robust, easy-to-fold and fairly-priced strollers. This one has quite narrow seats, but that means it compact and easily transportable. While many people get a Maclaren as a cheaper and more lightweight second buggy, we think this is the only buggy you’ll need.
