The recall affects the Dimples Elite 1-2-3 car seat after some were 'found to have poor quality finishing which has the potential to cause deterioration to the harness buckle strap'.
Any customer with one of the £39.99 seats from the batch manufactured in July 2015 is advised to return it to the store for a replacement, or contact the online help centre . Smyths has issued the photo below of the underneath of a seat to show how the correct batch can be identified. The product withdrawal notice states: "Smyths Toys apologise for the inconvenience caused but product quality and safety of our customers are paramount and maintaining this trust is important to us." Anyone needing more information can call Smyths on 020 3764 0823 using the reference number 127866. It is not the first time Smyths has encountered problems with the Dimples car seat range. In July product notices were issued because of problems with the seat belt installation. All such elements should be checked periodically to ensure optimum safety. "Consumers can be assured that the seat is fully tested and approved to the current European regulation (ECE R44) and the clip device is an additional tested safety measure. "Smyths Toys encourages all those who have purchased a Dimples Car Seat as listed to either contact their nearest Smyths Toys store where our staff will fit the clip at our premises or alternatively we can post the clip and its instructions to you."Black Friday is just around the corner and Smyths Toys Superstores today kicked off a five day sales bonanza ahead of the day itself. The retail giant revealed that their mammoth Black Friday offers are available in-store and online from now right up until Tuesday December 1 inclusive for customers trying to get a headstart on the Christmas rush.
