while installing my door I opened the bump closer all the way (not installed on door yet). now i can't get it to close. you have to pull it just a bit further w/o touching the button again. In operation, the closer works this way ON the door. Once engaged, you disengage by opening the door just a bit further and it will release. Don't hold the button or anything like you think you should (EVERYONE does that, they think they need to press it to disengage). Just extend it a bit more and it will close by itself. I had the same problem the first time around and thought I had broken it, but I don't think you can. There is always just a tiny bit more you can pull it, which makes it unclick. But it won't if you hold the button, so don't. Will this closer work on a pela storm door? Thank you for posting your question. Our closers are designed to work with our EMCO and Andersen storm doors. To ensure part compatibility, please contact Pella Storm Doors (Cole-Sewell) at (800) 374-4758, your storm door manufacturer, and inquire about the available replacement part for your door.

How to extend the metal bar on the bump closer Thank you for your inquiry. By inserting the pin as a grip on the rod, you will be able to extend the metal rod on the push button closer. You need to pull the closer cylinder and the metal rod away from each other. You should see at least 14 notches on the metal rod. For further assistance, please call the Andersen Solution Center at 1-800-933-3626 at 855-337-8822 from 7:00AM to 6:00PM CST on weekdays and 8:00AM to 5:00PM CST during Saturdays and Sundays. What is the non-bump one for? My door has glass/screen slider and if used at the top, screws would interfere with roller mechanism. Non bump one at the top, bump closer at the bottom.
