Hi, I am looking for a reasonable priced soft mattress for double bed. Went to Pricerite but the one I liked is way over my budget. All of them were 6K+. The one in Ikea which i liked is around 2600. Is this price ok? Can I find something in a bit lower price somewhere else? I live on Island side and would prefer buying from Island side only as I wont get time to go far off places, I work till very late. Thanks Some say you could try Wing On or Jusco. The mattress is 5 years old now but still very comfortable. Seahorse and Airland are local brands for mattresses. If I recall correctly, Seahorse mainly does foam and Airland do more spring mattresses. Because they are local, they tend to make firmer mattresses than the western brands. Having compared them to Ikea mattresses, I'd say they are better than Ikea. I bounced around on the mattresses at the Ikea in CWB over the weekend, and was really quite surprised at how flimsy they were- built like most disposable Ikea furniture but moreso. If you only need a mattress for a couple of years, then Ikea might be okay. Originally Posted by jgl Thanks Jgl. I will take a look at seahorse then, since its very near to my office. Any idea if there is any Airland store/showroom in Wan Chai or near Wan Chai. Certainly dont want to spend so much on something thats flimsy. Ikea does offer 25 years warranty though. My only note would be do you have a bed frame already or are you just buying a mattress?

If you have a frame, be sure that which you are buying is going to fit. We discovered the difference between a US queen and a 'short' queen that is sold in some places in Hong Kong (about 4 inches shorter). I'm actually out today looking for a 'cot' mattress I guess they call it for our maid's room. It's a very tiny size and I'm not sure where to even begin looking for that. The only Airlands I remember seeing are within some of the department stores. I believe Wing On usually carries them. Maybe someone else can pipe up on where showrooms are located. I'd say that the 25 year warranty offered by Ikea is a marketing gimmick. None of the high quality mattress manufacturers offer warranties for long, and say that a mattress should last 10-15 years. And these are mattresses costing over ten times more and are maybe 5 times as heavy so have a lot more material. I highly suspect that Ikea simply knows that many people who buy it's products do so with the idea that it'll be chucked out (e.g. students, people who will only be in town a couple of years) and so will never claim on the warranty.
