about watches
greeneyedkittenNot too long ago I sold my smart watch and switched to a classic quartz watch. These are Casio Vintage and Edifice. The choice fell on Casio because of their high bundle of price, quality and reliability.
Cons of smart watches. A smart watch, if you consider it a watch, is more like a smaller 2nd screen for a phone with additional sensors. I am not satisfied with 3 aspects of smart watches: design, functionality, price. Let's start with the design, here everything is very simple: it's just a black piece of glass and metal. Of all the popular watches, we can single out only some huawei watches that look interesting; however, most of the other devices are faceless and differ only in colors (apple/samsung/pixel watch is a perfect example). I personally frustrated with the functionality because it is almost completely useless: heart rate tracking doesn't say anything at all, because the watch is not a certified medical device, and it's not clear why it's needed; activity rings didn't do much for me personally, as well as notifications that I need to move more during the day; notifications are more annoying than helpful, after all, majority people can wait for a while, and if you need me very badly, there are calls for this case. The rest of the functionality is only useful to me a couple of times after turning on the watch. It's more convenient to watch the weather on my phone, as well as do everything else. The main problem is that many people have fingers big enough to press the small elements of the watch's interface while holding one hand in an unnatural position. Now let's move on to the last point - price. Smart watches are losing a lot of value on the secondary market simply because they are a smart device with a battery that needs to be charged frequently (causing it to wear out) and software that is regularly updated. At the same time, a classic watch does not have these problems and holds its price perfectly.
Let's talk about the pros of classical models. If briefly, it is style and freedom. Unlike new-fashioned devices you can choose between an endless variety of designs and materials, there are men's and women's versions for every taste and purse. You also get the history of the watchmaking house and in some cases a certain status. The freedom lies in the fact that the watch performs solely its function and does it brilliantly. I think it is not worth mentioning the fact that classic mechanical or quartz models work for a long time, while smart analogs offer a period of a few days to a week.
To summarize. For myself, I do not see the advantages of smart watches, as an accessory all the more. They require constant recharging, look dubious and quickly lose relevance. The classics have simple and clear functionality, high reliability and look much more solid. However, everyone makes their own choice, I just stated my opinion. Choose what you like. All the best to you.
