about tablets
greeneyedkittenIf we believe statistics, tablets are much less popular than phones. Let's take a look at a brief history of these devices and understand whether it is necessary to buy tablets now.
The first tablet in the usual sense is considered to be the first Apple iPad. It in turn came to replace the so-called netbooks. Netbooks are very small budget laptops of small size, created for simple tasks like browsing and watching movies. The iPad's key advantage was its size. Among other differences from netbooks: a simple mobile system, increased autonomy, the ability to use a SIM card to access the Internet and the lack of a keyboard. Later there were other lines of iPad and solutions from Android manufacturers, which quickly enough supplanted netbooks. Separate from them stand Windows tablets, which to this day are still quite controversial due to the lack of normal optimization for touch interface. Based on this, we understand the main tasks of tablets, which are not very different from their ancestors.
Let's start with the bad, namely the disadvantages of tablets. The main disadvantage of these devices is their system: in most cases, tablet systems do not offer significantly more features than a phone. Because of this, many people do not realize what they can use this device for.
Though the features are far away from your computer, even sitting in chats is more comfortable than from your phone, thanks to the split between the chat list and the chat itself on 2 halves of the screen. Multi-window on the tablet is really convenient, and in some models there is a computer windows mode. Consumption of content is also more convenient from a large screen: for movies the sound is better, for books the font is bigger, and websites can be opened in full version. Playing games on a tablet is much more comfy than on a phone, for example because of the larger map overview.
Who would benefit from a tablet, why and how I personally use it. In my opinion, a tablet will come in handy for those who don't have a laptop or need a lightweight machine to consume content and chat. It would also be an indispensable tool for painters/designers. I use a tablet practically as my primary device. All for a few obvious reasons: my finger size makes it uncomfortable for me to do many things on my phone, and I'm also not a big fan of on-screen keyboards. My choice fell on the tablet in the best configuration, that is, with a keyboard, stylus and SIM card; after all, this kit covers all the needs. As I wrote above, the scenarios of use are many, but often it is chatting, watching videos over meals, handwritten notes and typing in notes, playing music (I use instead of a speaker at home, the sound is loud enough), playing cards games, and outside the house you can watch a movie or make small adjustments to documents. It is clear that in the near future tablets will not replace laptops and computers, but simple tasks are more convenient to do on them because of the size and weight, especially on the road. However, it is quite convenient for many people to use a phone most of the time, and for some tasks to use a computer or vice versa, to use a computer most of the time and for them it will not make sense to buy another device that will need to be charged and periodically updated to a new model (tablets have in most cases a longer life cycle than phones). We are all different and have various requirements from devices, the main thing is to use what you like.
