1.

The #GeorgeFloyd #Phoenix protest/march just started.

Large group (300+) is heading down 1st Avenue after starting outside City Hall @ABC15

2.

Large police presence in the surrounding area.

3.

The group is currently marching the block around City Hall chanting:

“I can’t breathe.”

“Hands up, don’t shoot.”

“No justice, no peace.”

“Eff the police.”

7.

#BREAKING the protest have moved into the streets - blocking Washington @abc15

8.

Crowd now moving down 7th Avenue towards Van Buren. Phoenix PD has helped block the traffic.

Organizers ignored request of community action officers to turn around on Washington.

9.

The 5-way intersection at 7th ave & Van Buren has been shutdown.

So far police have shown no signs of aggression, and have blocked traffic. But I know there are many officers on standby on the nearby side streets.

10.

Just passed 3rd ave moving down Van Buren. Just marching.

Crowd not thinning.

11.

The group is now sitting at 1st Ave & Van Buren.

“We can shut down any street in this city.” -@ReverendMaupin

12.

BREAKING:

The crowd made it to the capitol. A glass bottle was just thrown at DPS troopers - some of whom are in riot gear.

Protestors also hit a trooper with a plastic bottle. Some small rocks are being thrown @ABC15

13.

DPS troopers are gearing up. A tear gas canister was just readied, bean bag rounds too.

A few in the crowd have been throwing bottles & rocks for past 10 minutes @ABC15

14.

Back-ups continue to arrive in the form of DPS troopers & Phoenix officers in riot gear.

They’re still outnumbered by protestors but the crowd has definitely spread out.

@ReverendMaupin is trying, unsuccessfully, to move people away from the standoff zone at the capitol

15.

Phoenix police now have the main line on 17th Ave...

Things are very tense @ABC15

16.

This is the moment protesters smashed a phoenix police cruiser’s rear windshield.

It’s what led to officers jumping out in riot gear & dispersing pepper spray, firing rubber bullets @ABC15

17.

Another video, this one taken right before the back windshield was smashed out.

You can see at least a dozen people surrounded the Phoenix PD cruiser & were banging on the hood @ABC15

18.

Things have quieted down.

Vast majority of protestors dispersed after Phoenix PD sprayed pepper spray & fired rubber bullets.

Now ~150 people remain, locked in a standoff with DPS troopers at the capitol.

I do not know what Phoenix PD is dealing w/ but they have their chopper up.

19.

The “standoff” at the capitol is over.

Protestors have gone back towards Phoenix, where there is another scene.
