Today marks the 75th anniversary since the CIA was formed. Since 1947 it has been destabilising the world all to protect American interests here is a thread documenting just some of its crimes.

In 1953, the CIA/MI6 overthrew the democratically-elected Iranian P.M. Mohammad Mosaddegh after he nationalized its oil, kicking out Britain’s oil company. The coup ki!!ed 100s & set off a vicious crackdown, ending all political dissent in Iran.

Operation PBSuccess a covert op by the CIA that deposed Guatemala’s democratically-elected Jacobo Árbenz and installed a brutal military dictatorship to protect profits of the United Fruit Company (now known as Chiquita).

On Sep 11 1973, a CIA-backed coup overthrew Chile's democratically-elected president Salvador Allende and installed Gen. Pinochet's dictatorship, which ki!!ed thousands, tortured tens of thousands & imprisoned over 130,000.

On 8 Feb 1963, the CIA backed a coup against the populist Iraqi leader, Abd al-Karim Qasim, jailing, torturing & ki!!ing thousands of his supporters & paving the way for Saddam Hussein’s rise to power.

In 1967, Ché Guevara was captured, tied up & ki!!ed by US-trained Bolivian soldiers in a CIA operation. Following the ki!!ing his hands were severed his personal items were taken as trophies & his body was dumped in a mass grave.

The CIA played a significant role in Nelson Mandela’s capture and subsequent 27 year imprisonment. A CIA officer tipped off South African authorities to Mandela’s location in 1962, resulting in his arrest.

In 1976, CIA-funded, anti-Castro terrorists, bombed the civilian airliner Cubana de Aviación Flight 455, ki!!ing all 73 people aboard, including all 24 members of 1975 Cuban national fencing team, many of whom were just teenagers.

On Apr 22 1967, the CIA-backed a military coup in Greece which put in power a fascist junta. The junta instituted martial law, beat, tortured & ki!!ed thousands, & arrested 8,000 people in its first month in power.

In 1961, Patrice Lumumba was ki!!ed by Katangan provincial officials and Belgian mercenaries by firing squad. The CIA claims to have had no hand in his death; however files demonstrate the CIA had spent months assisting Lumumba’s enemies in their plots against him.

The CIA would go on to train 100s of Brazilian military/police officers in torture techniques. multiple accounts allege that torture techniques were tested on homeless beggars from the streets of Belo Horizonte Brazil
