Despite these long litany of atrocities 59% of Brits suveryed as part of a YouGov poll said that the empire is something to be proud of and only 19% think that it is something to be ashamed of.

Also keep in mind the £45 trillion stolen from India is a conservative estimate. It does not include debts placed on South Asia or the environmental cost of Britain's aggressive deforestation for timber.
