As Disney Parks made $29 billion last year, some workers were going hungry and sleeping in their cars. The Magic Kingdom is more of a dystopia these days for the workers who make it. 🧡

2.

Yesterday in bargaining Disney refused to offer even one more cent to workers, even after 96% rejected a measly $1 raise from the $100 billion company. /2

3.

Disney World tickets now cost as much as $189 a day, but the latest data about the situation for workers at the entertainment giant shows roughly 60% of workers have under $100 in savings. /3

4.

That means that many are living out of cars and showering in Disney's costuming building before work, despite Disney Parks making $29 billion last year. /4

5.

Workers even told our producer @paula_pecorella that they have to explain to their kids why they can't eat until they are satisfied and why they should only eat until they are not hungry any more, because they have to make the food last. /5

6.

One worker even talked about buying rice in bulk from Disney's cast-connections discount store, only to find it was full of weevils. /6

7.

And many of the workers are struggling with rent in Orlando. One worker reported that their rent went up 3x in one year, a $700/month increase, while they saw no raises at work. /7

8.

So it's no surprise that the people who make Disney World run rejected a $1 raise so resoundingly. Watch our whole video below to learn more from the workers themselves. 8/8
