Small animals are being tortured and crushed to death as part of a bizarre form of sexual fetish. “Crush” fetish is a paraphilia in which a person derives sexual pleasure from watching something, such as an inanimate object, insect or small dog, be crushed. This disgusting form of animal abuse must stop.
Representatives Ted Deutch and Vern Buchanan have introduced the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture (PACT) Act. The bill is currently in the House of Representatives. This bill would make animal cruelty and bestiality a federal felony. As it stands now, each state regulates animal cruelty and animal abuse within its own boundaries. This state-by-state system has allowed “crush” videos to exist. The PACT Act will end this disgusting form of torture.
A similar bill, the Animal Crush Video Prohibition Act of 2010, was rejected by the House of Representatives a couple of years ago. That act would have banned “animal crush” videos that show animals being crushed or abused. The Senate did vote to pass that measure, but it never made it past the House.
Not all “crush” videos are abusive toward animals. Some simply show a woman stomping on a vase or other inanimate object. Extreme forms of “crush” fetishes can result in hardcore “animal crush” videos in which small animals are repeatedly tortured and maimed on screen before being crushed to death. These horrifying videos of animal abuse are the forms of “crush” videos that the PACT Act aims to outlaw.
