Zelensky completely inverts reality with this statement. Ukraine was led down the primrose path by the West who themselves risked "World War 3" as they thought there would be zero consequences for their actions. As we can see today, they don't mind risking Ukrainian bodies by the thousands to fulfill their geopolitical goals.
The interview gets even worse. Zelensky says that he cannot allow the Donbass to be Russian, because he cares so much about the people there. Of course, the AFU bombed those people, and the Donbass was against the Maidan according to all polling at the time. Similarly, when the Crimea returned to Russia, Ukraine cut off their water supply and dammed the Crimean Canal. They don't give a shit about the people!
