Your support for Belarus political prisoners

Your support for Belarus political prisoners

Freedom postcards

Since August 2020, the number of political prisoners in Belarus has been increasing and is now getting close to 1,000. Held hostage in deplorable conditions, they need international solidarity. As a politician, representative of civil society, or a kind and caring person, you can demonstrate your solidarity in several ways.

Use your social media

International attention to Belarus is much needed. What you can do is tell your followers about the situation in Belarus. Share this guide and invite them to support Belarusians. Tag us on Instagram or Twitter and call people to print our postcards and send them to political prisoners.

Help political prisoners stay connected with the world

Rare meetings with lawyers and letters are the only ways for political prisoners to communicate with the outside world. In addition to that, letters are a message to the regime: every violation of human rights and freedoms will be followed by the international community.

Sending letters is easy. In fact, due to Belarusian volunteers who maintain platforms for correspondence with political prisoners, all you need to do is type!

  • vkletochku.org lets you send your letter easily and for free. You can type your letter in any language, and volunteers will translate it into Belarusian or Russian. If you want, you can also enclose a photo.
  • письмо.бел enables you to choose a postcard and sign it for a political prisoner. However, the service does not provide translation, so use Google Translate.
  • Regular mail is also an option! Though remember that only Belarusian and Russian are allowed, so, again, use Google Translate and print your letter before sending it.

If you are not sure about what to write, check this guide from Viasna Human Rights Center.

BySol, A Country to Live in, and other foundations are well trusted by Belarusians. They support the repressed by providing direct financial and material assistance.

#StandwithBelarus

The new Belarus will be a country where human rights are respected, but now, people need your support. Thank you for your solidarity.
