Your Neonate Might Be At Risk Of HSV!

Herpes is a very common infection all over the world that has affected nearly half of the global population. It affects people irrespective of ages, sex and race. Though, it is not fatal to most adults, sometime it can cause severe brain inflammation which ultimately results in Herpes Encephalitis. There are two types of viruses that cause Herpes virus to emerge. 1 is Herpes simplex virus and another is termed as Herpes Simplex Virus 2. It is understood that Herpes Virus 1 causes Oral Herpes and Herpes simplex Virus 2 is responsible for Genital Herpes.

As I earlier said that it is not fatal in adults but when it comes to neonate, it most of the time causes fatal infection in neonate. This is because a newly born child normally has weak immune system so that the immune system capitulate to the virus. If mother has herpes during the child birth one should go for the C-section delivery. However, the chances of Herpes transfer to your neonate are very little but once it occur it has high mortality rate.
