It connects directly to your vehicle's ECU (Engine Control Unit) through the CAN data circuit. It is completely silent as it does not use radio frequencies or key fobs. This means it cannot be detected by diagnostics or other vehicle hacking devices. It also protects against adding the key to a new one or replacing the ECU to bypass the system as only the correct PIN code can allow the engine to start.
