Australian children as young as 13 are being exposed to and viewing pornography, while nearly 90 per cent of young men are watching explicit content on a weekly or daily basis.
These are the findings of a study led by Dr Megan Lim from Melbourne 's Burnet Institute, which has revealed the extent in which Australia's youth are viewing adult material.
Of the study's 941 participants who were aged between 15 and 24, a staggering 87 per cent of the admitted to watching porn.

Dr Lim told Daily Mail Australia it was worrying how young Australians are now while being exposed to adult material.
'It certainly seems concerning. While 13 was the average age of first viewing for boys, many had seen pornography even earlier than that.'
84 per cent of young males revealed they downloaded or streamed porn on a regular basis, either daily or weekly.
The research team responsible for the study have stressed the need for more time to be spent in schools educating young students as teenagers become sexually active younger while using pornography as guidance.
'Many young people do report that the sex education they receive at school is inadequate and report using pornography as an alternative source of education about sex,' Dr Lim said.
The study also revealed that gay and transgender participants were watching porn more often and at a younger age than others.
The law restricts Australians under 18 from watching porn yet Dr Lim believes the regulations in place to prevent viewing aren't sufficient, and is unsure as to what the future holds.

'It's difficult to say whether the age of exposure will continue to get younger, we're already at a point where most children have internet access.'
Worryingly, Dr Lim also pointed to the mental health effects caused by watching porn, as she believes explicit online videos don't represent real life.
'It has been theorised that pornography could cause poor mental health through pornography addiction, body image problems, or relationship problems.'
The 2016 study, which gathered its participants from social media users, is available on the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Public Health.
