Atlanta rapper Young Thug has been accused of being a down-low lover but after revealing his socialite boo earlier this month the rumors died down.
Now, in a new interview with Rolling Stone Magazine the rapper admits to having sex while locked up in an Georgia juvenile detention center.
Growing up, the rapper (real name: Jeffrey Williams) was one of 11 siblings living with their parents in a housing project that was later demolished by the city. One of his brothers is currently doing time for murder, and another was shot to death when Thug was in elementary school. “I was in the streets at eight, nine years old,” Thug says. “I was going to school so my dad and mom would keep buying me clothes, but when I got out I did what I wanted to do – fighting, all kinds of shit.”
A few years later, after a dispute over Thug’s classroom antics turned physical, he got kicked out of middle school. “I broke my teacher’s arm,” he says matter-of-factly. “Took his a** out. P**sy-a** n**a.” He spent the next four years in a harsh juvenile-detention program. “Seven in the morning to six in the afternoon,” he says. “No windows or nothing, like a real jail. Lot of punishment. I didn’t do shit there but gamble, smoke and f**k.”
Somewhere along the way, he figured out that he had a seriously marketable skill. “Anyone can rap if you’ve got brains,” Thug says. “So I just went with it.” He released his first mixtape in 2011, and by last year, he was a major regional star.
Inspiration strikes after an hour or so: Thug vanishes into a vocal booth and starts improvising rhymes over a woozy bass line, lapsing into melodic gibberish when the words aren’t there yet. As his lyrics start to take form, he repeats key phrases in minutely differing intonations: “Born in ’91, 23 years old with a whole lotta stank . . . whole lotta stank . . . whole lotta stank. . . .” His engineer cuts and pastes the strongest version of each bar into a tight verse, and within an hour, an eerily menacing new Young Thug song has been born. “It’s magic when you see him do what he does,” Birdman says.

Young Thug is arguably one of the most unpredictable, charismatic, and outlandish personalities in Hip-Hop today.
Everything from him posing butt naked on his debut album Barter 6, to his infamous statement at the BET Awards years ago declaring that rappers should not talk about social issues, all the way to him posing in his now infamous No, My Name Is Jeffery album cover with in an elegant belle-like dress, solidifies him as a one of a kind character. But now, the man known as Jeffery Williams throws fans in even more of a loop that, despite what his lyrics may tell you, he’s not really into sex that much.
In a couple’s interview alongside his beautiful fiancée, Jerrika Karlae with VFILES as part of their TMI segment, he revealed that he and Karlae did not have sex for the first six months of their relationship . However, it was not because of reasons many would expect, like celibacy.
“We wasn’t doing it on like no it’s too early to have sex shit,” he explains. “I don’t care for sex that much. I’ve never actually had sex with her. Never ever. Our first time doin’ grown stuff, she did it. She pulled me to the room and was like ‘come here’.”
Karlae stated that initially she thought he was “weird” for not having sex, but however she went on to explain why that made her more attracted to Thugga.

Jeffery Lamar Williams (born August 16, 1991), popularly known as Young Thug, is an innovative trap artist from Atlanta known for his experimental vocal styles on versatile production ranging from hard trap beats to experimental pop records . Thug is known as a pioneer for much of the 2010s generation of rap, and his constant cosigns, features, and chart presence cement his status as a leader in the streaming era and current rap scene.
While Young Thug released his first mixtape in 2011, it wasn’t until fellow ATL trap artist Gucci Mane took Thug under his wing in 2013 that he began to see great success as an artist. That year, Thug released his first major hit, “ Stoner ,” which quickly gained viral traction on social media, then “ Danny Glover ,” which propelled him to an even larger scale of success. After Gucci Mane went to prison in 2013, Thug saw success by re-aligning himself with Cash Money Records ’s own Birdman and his newly-formed Rich Gang collective with the hit single “ Lifestyle ” and a collaborative mixtape before officially signing to 300 Ent. in 2015. Under 300, Thug continued to release many more singles, mixtapes, and features, gradually boosting his popularity before releasing his debut album, So Much Fun , which topped the Billboard 200 on August 31, 2019.
After 2015’s “ Best Friend ” became Thug’s first platinum single, his 2016 collaboration with Travis Scott , “ pick up the phone ,” became his new highest-charting song on the Billboard Hot 100 . This would later be succeeded by “ Havana ” with Camila Cabello , the best-selling single of 2018. However, his current highest-charting song as lead artist is “ Hot ,” which topped the Rolling Stone 100 and peaked at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100, surpassing his previous biggest hit, “ The London ,” which peaked at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In 2017, Young Thug officially founded his own label, Young Stoner Life Records , consisting of Lil Duke , Gunna , Lil Keed , and Wheezy , among others. The label has released two compilation albums together, 2018’s Slime Language and 2021’s Slime Language 2 .
Thug has been cited as an inspiration for many popular artists outside of YSL, including Lil Uzi Vert , Lil Baby , YoungBoy Never Broke Again , 03 Greedo , and even the legendary Kanye West . While many have dubbed Thug as a huge musical inspiration, Jeffery himself consistently cites Lil Wayne as his biggest idol and influence, even though they have both publicly spoken about their past issues with one another, which have since been resolved .
Young Thug’s frequent collaborators outside of YSL include Gucci Mane, Migos , Travis Scott, Future , and formerly Rich Homie Quan . Thug has also worked extensively with producers such as Wheezy, London On Da Track , Metro Boomin , TM88 , and Southside .
Thug has also officially released collaboration projects with Bloody Jay , Rich Homie Quan , Future , and Chris Brown , along with being a major participant in the group projects Lobby Runners and Bankroll Mafia .
