Monday - I tell Raven she can't have a party cause I don't want the chaos and drama. She can invite TWO girls to go to dinner with her. She opts to go to Dave and Buster's (an arcade)instead. We call [Guest #1] and confirm that she can go and call [Guest #2] and leave a message.
Tuesday - Ask Raven if she confirmed [Guest #2]
"Uh, I forgot"
Wednesday - Called [Guest #2] and got confirmation.
8:20am [Twin A] who lives down the street arrives on our doorstep to wait with Raven for the bus. She comes inside and proceeds to ask me if Raven is having her birthday party at Dave and Busters. I immediately turn to her and tell her that Raven is NOT having a birthday party. I told [Twin A] that I was taking Raven to Dave and Busters to celebrate her birthday and that we weren't doing any thing big.
3:30pm I pick Raven up at school to take her to the optometrist and I ask her WHY!?!?!?! did [Twin A] know about the trip to D&B. She told me that [Guest #2] and [The Twins] don't get along so [Guest #2] was bragging to [The Twins] to be mean. Apparently, she also blabbed to a few other people and put Raven in a bad spot with another girl at school.
5:45pm [Twin A] is knocking on our door....with her mother. The mother has rushed home because she is confused about the party and didn't know the details.
ME: Well....I told Raven we weren't having a party this year and that I would take her and two friends to D&B's to hang out for a few hours.
(a few ackward moments of silence while I wait for [Other mother] to realize the situation)
OTHER MOTHER: Oh. So was [Twin A] invited?
RAVEN: No [Twin A] you know I didn't.
ME: (looks to hubby) We could probably squeeze one more in.
Other mother is looking like she doesn't know what to say about this and quite frankly I didn't know what to do other than to let her go. So [Twin A]'s mother tells [Twin A] to come out to the car and get some money. I'm sure it was to give her a lecture...or I hope it was.
All of this I could have forgiven, that is until dinner was ordered.
Raven - Appetizer nachos for dinner. She ate every bite.
[Guest #1] - Half a RIB DINNER!!! Which she split the ribs with [Guest #2] and then didn't eat ANY of the sides she ordered with it.
[Guest #2] - Appetizer nachos .... which she didn't eat since the ribs looks so much better.
[Twin A] - DOUBLE DECKER CHEESE HAMBURGER!!! Was it ok that she ordered that? Sure. To bad she didn't bother to eat more than THREE DAMN FREAKING BITES!!!!!!!!!
I am having a VERY stiff drink right now and we have already told Raven that she is only inviting ONE friend for dinner next year.
Ouch........thank goodness I still have a few more years to go. My son is still happy with having birthday parties in the backyard just playing with his buddies from school.
