YouTuber Beats Minecraft Challenge Run With No Kills

Minecraft challenge runs are a staple of the game's creator community. It's generally not what we'd consider a violent game but you do end up killing a shocking number of enemies during the course of a typical playthrough - whether that's the zombies that cause you trouble at the beginning or you're harvesting items from creatures in the Nether or simply fighting the Ender Dragon - and so a pacifist playthrough is trickier than you think. There's a lot of violence even if you don't intend to.

SwitchBackMongo is a Minecraft YouTuber who plays in Hardcore. Pharaoh's Blog decided to stop the violence and set off on a journey that would see him conquer all Minecraft mobs. Well, mostly. However, technically, they didn't kill anything but the explosive beds - yes, that's correct - they were used around Ender Dragon certainly did.

Anyone who has played Minecraft before knows that you must defend yourself when searching for resources. When you're deep in the midst of the overworld the skeletons, spiders and creepers are all likely to seek out and kill you, so just trying to avoid them is a titanic effort. Even the act of simply taking a few irons can cause a fight or even death. Keep in mind that this is Hardcore, so death isn't an option.

For SwitchBackMongo, the real problem was the Nether. It was a Blaze enemy, which is the only source of Blaze Rods in the game. Blazes are a key component in the making of The Eye of Ender, which leads to The End. Blazes are one of two enemies that must be defeated to complete Minecraft. Does this mean you have to kill them?

SwitchBackMongo explores a variety of ways to deal with the animals in the video, such as watching as an Iron Golem decimates fifty Blazes with no drops, before making a trip to Google as many of us to find an answer. Thankfully, wolves truly are man's best friend, and they got the job done.

The entire run is a pleasure to watch because it's a brand-new venture for the prolific Minecraft YouTuber, and they're not completely sure of how to go about it. It's rare to see a challenge that's not already accomplished particularly in the game that's been in existence as long as Minecraft.

Another impressive Minecraft run saw a group of players complete the game in less than two minutes. One player decided to capture the Ender Dragon rather than kill it. While you're here, take a look at our list of the top Minecraft seeds to find some amazing worlds for your next game.
