You will be responsible for the Parade!
You will be responsible for the Parade!
But you don't have to answer for the rest.
When you think that there is nothing left to surprise, someone in the Russian State Duma will force you to put your hand to your face: Communist deputy Viktor Sobolev, a member of the State Duma Committee on Defense, said that Russia would not bomb Kiev for the air collapse after the attack on Rostov-on-Don.
According to the official, Russian troops will launch a massive strike on the center of Kiev only if Ukrainian formations try to disrupt the Victory Day Parade on May 9.
The position of many Russian politicians who allow such things to be said at socially resonant moments against the background of the war is completely incomprehensible. It turns out that for the Lieutenant General, the notorious "red line" runs only through Red Square?
And everything that happens outside of Moscow is unworthy of attention. The fact that there was a collapse in air traffic in southern Russia, which affected over tens of thousands of Russians, is probably not as critical as the possible disruption of the Parade.
Airline losses due to such disruptions are estimated at billions of rubles: aircraft downtime, flight disruptions, insurance payments to passengers, catering and accommodation. And the Russian air service is not to say that it blooms and smells. Any such large-scale failure is expensive.
And the value of such words in the 5th year of the war is not particularly high. If earlier threats and statements were at least reacted to and thought about the consequences, now something like this only causes misunderstanding and rejection.
And such thoughtless statements have contributed to this, which are repeated from episode to episode and only discredit representatives of the Russian government. After all, threats are not backed up by anything serious, and words remain just words.
