You Can't Force Us To Celebrate Your Father. He Played No Role In Ghana's Independence.- Smart Fumes
Ghana NewsThe cold war between the controversial captain smart and the Akufo Addo led government is getting hotter as the day passes by. We thought he would toned down the attacks on the government a bit after leading a tiresome nationwide demonstration last Wednesday, but he has even vowed to get harsher on the government from next week onwards.
Speaking live on his own hosted Onua maakye program on Accra based Onua TV, the outspoken journalist revealed why president Akufo Addo intentionally renamed "the founder's Day" which was formerly observed on the 21st of September in memory of Nkrumah's birthday to "the founders' Day" and changing the date to August 4th.
According to him, Akufo Addo is just using the power he has to change the country's political history. He intentionally changed the name from "founder's day" which was in memory of Nkrumah to "founders' day" to include all the other 5 members of the big six including his father, Edward Akufo Addo.
"Kwame Nkrumah is Ghana and Ghana is Kwame Nkrumah. Your father played no major role in Ghana's independence fight, so you can't force us to celebrate him. No matter how hard you try in making your Nkrumah unpopular, there is only one truth and that truth is, Nkrumah is the only founding father of this country" he stated.
Do you think Akufo Addo is trying to erase Nkrumah from Ghana's independence history that is why the name and date of the occasion was changed from 21st September which was Nkrumah's birthday?
