This is like a roller coaster for cars. Lol. Seriously, this is the worst place to be at 5PM.
A on ramp, off ramp, flyover for I85 and I285. Best to avoid going west and south in the morning and avoid going east and north in the evening.
This isn't a good bowl of noodles nor a good junction. This is atlanta's traffic Cluster of I-285 and I-85. Most of the time it's a snails craw and other times it's just a parking lot. Weekends though SJ traffic is little lighter. Not today apparently. Doesn't help with semi truck drivers thinking they drive sports cars, a little lost out of staters, some who do everything but driving like texting, smoking, scolding their kids, whatever else and just some Aholes who think their time is more important than others' by cutting in. Yup it was rough travels to Duluth aka Ktown today on SJ for 1/2 hour on a Saturday afternoon!! It'll be a while to shake loose this trip. Peace.
I wouldn't know authentic spaghetti sauce even if it was standing in front of me....to me homemade spaghetti sauce taste like Prego....Here are some of my favorite spaghetti jar brands Prego Traditional Barilla Traditional marinara Trader Joe's Organic marinara sauce here is a spaghetti recipe that I found that you might like 2 tsp olive oil 1/2 small onion chopped 2 green onion chopped 2 tsp crushed garlic 1 (28 oz.) peeled and diced tomatoes 4 tsp dried basil 4 tsp dried oregano 1 tsp white sugar In a large sauce pan heat the oil. Saute the onion, green onion and garlic. When the onions are clear. Stir in tomatoes, basil, oregano and sugar. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low. Simmer for about 20-25 minutes....
When I first got my driver's license this is the first piece of highway I drove on. I screamed. I like how on one part there are two lanes that are that have four lanes in between them but both go to 85N. I feel like the northbound lane to the far right is a secret traffic workaround for those of us in the know.
I take spaghetti junction on purpose because it's fun. I love driving on loop de loops and multi-lane highways/interstates. Literally looks like someone has one end of spaghetti in their mouth and are slurping it up. I have to take pictures one day just for the heck of it.
Spaghetti Junction is something that has to be experienced both in good and bad times so you can appreciate what it does, and be weary of it at certain hours of the day. It's kinda like some big kid came along and twisted 285 and 85 on top of each other, and here we are, left with Spaghetti! If you need to get to Marietta from Gwinnett? Spaghetti Junction If you need to go to Tucker from Lenox Square? Spaghetti Junction If you need to be somewhere REAL quick at 5pm? NOT spaghetti Junction. Traffic sucks when it sucks, merging sucks when it's bad, but when things are good, i'll take Spaghetti Junction...and you probably will, or have too. Just please, no yelp reviewing while on spaghetti Junction!!
WHAT CAN I SAY, IT ACTUALLY GREW ON ME! I actually love Spaghetti Junction because it is the gateway to a lot of cool places. I am sure that countless people have actually used it to take a much needed vacation or a short road trip. I think that it is better appreciated by those who don't have to use it daily or during rush hours. It can be intimidating at first glance but once you are able to see it without the crazy traffic, you will come to appreciate its beauty and design. It is best experienced on a weekend morning in the pre-dawn hours. Give it a try and you will see it in an entirely different light!
When it's good, it's good. And when it's bad, it's REAL bad. If there is one fender bender on Spaghetti Junction, everything comes to a screeching halt. The lanes behind the wreck stop, because most of it is just two lane nonsense and all of the other roads stop because they're slowing down to look. But if there aren't any wrecks, hold on tight because you can get everywhere. Fast. I drive through here a few times a month for work. If you're coming from Charlotte, just be sure to check Google maps around exit 120 on 85S to make sure the junction will be good to you. The actual layout of spaghetti junction is only scary because when you fly under these overpasses, you realize that if one thing goes wrong - it could all go really wrong. Kind of a thrill, eh?
I honestly don't know why the hell spaghetti junction is on a yelp page but whatever. I live right next to it, and I can tell you I can go wherever I want in the city because of this. It connects 85 and 285. It's the most important highway connector in the Northeast region of ATL (Doraville-Atlanta)
