Yonael Marga is a luxury ready to wear clothing brand made in Ethiopia. The brand blends traditional fabrics and embroidery techniques with graphic design to create an afrofuturistic aesthetic. The brand is eponymously named after its founder, Yonael Marga, and is managed by a team of young creative’s. 

Tizita: godess of Memory is the first in a series exploring mysticism. Religion plays a major role in the culture and identity of Ethiopia and as a result, the bulk of the countries mythology is religious. Tizita means nostalgia, an individual journey to a moment in the past. It is also a collective trip; a feeling that is able to transport you to time you have never been to. Tizita, in our story, is a goddess of memory; a physical manifestation of that feeling and divine being. But Tizita is also a place; a domain of memories and of the past.

The project is a mix of different disciplines bringing together fashion design, graphics design and creative writing under the concept of afro-futuristim. Afro-futurism is a philosophy and a movement in literature, music, art, etc., that combines elements of science fiction, historical fantasy, Afrocentrism, and magic realism themes and black history and culture. In this project we explore this concept by looking into the past and how it interplays with the future and the now, particularly through an Ethiopian lens.
