YidCalendar

Last updated: September 30, 2026

YidCalendar is designed to keep personal information on your device and to request access only when a feature needs it. Online features run only after you choose them.

Information stored on your device

YidCalendar can store cycle entries, hefsek and Mikvah milestones, personal reminders, scanned or manually entered events, invitation images, notification preferences, location preferences, calendar selections, appearance and Siddur settings, and other app settings. This information is used to provide the features you choose. Core Hebrew calendar, zmanim, learning, and Siddur calculations run on your device.

Widgets

The Today's Agenda and Zmanim widgets show a summary of your reminders, events, and zmanim. The app shares that summary with its widgets through storage on your device only. Nothing is sent off the device to show a widget.

Location

If you allow location access, your approximate device location is used to calculate local zmanim such as sunrise, sunset, candle lighting, and nightfall, and to show local weather through Apple WeatherKit. Zmanim are calculated by the app. You can instead choose a city manually. YidCalendar does not sell location data and does not use it for advertising.

Microphone and speech recognition

If you use voice commands or Quick Add dictation, the app records a short audio clip and requests on-device speech recognition. The resulting text is used to navigate to dates or prepare editable reminder and event drafts. Audio is temporary and is not kept as app content. Transcribed text leaves the device only if you approve an OpenAI request, as described below.

Invitation scanning with ChatGPT

If you choose to scan an invitation, YidCalendar uses a photo you take or select. Invitations are read by ChatGPT (OpenAI). After you pick a photo, the app explains this and asks for your permission. Nothing is sent until you tap "Send photo to ChatGPT", and permission is asked for each photo. Scanning requires a signed-in YidCalendar account.

When you agree, a compressed copy of the photo is sent through YidCalendar's signed-in backend to OpenAI, which returns the event details it finds (for example names, parents, dates, times, and hall). YidCalendar does not keep the uploaded photo on its server; the backend stores only a count of scans per account to prevent abuse. OpenAI may keep limited safety logs under its own policies. Nothing is saved as an event until you review and edit the details. If you save the event, the photo and details are stored with it on your device.

Quick Add with OpenAI

Quick Add first tries to prepare reminders, tasks, and events on your device. If it cannot understand what you typed or dictated, YidCalendar asks before anything leaves the phone. If you tap "Send this text to OpenAI", the text is sent through YidCalendar's signed-in backend to OpenAI to draft a reminder. YidCalendar does not store that request as app content. Nothing is saved until you review and confirm it.

Feature Requests

If you send a feature request, YidCalendar stores its title, description, the app area, your device platform, the app version, and your YidCalendar account ID on YidCalendar's server (Supabase). Your votes on requests are stored with your account ID so each account can vote once.

New requests are private: only you and the YidCalendar team can see them. If the team approves a request, its title, description, status, vote count, and any reply from the YidCalendar team become visible to all users. Your name, email address, and account ID are never shown to other users. The YidCalendar team can hide or delete any request. Do not include personal information in a request. To have a request removed, contact us through the Support page.

Notifications

If enabled, local notifications may be scheduled for reminders, events, zmanim, Yom Tov, Eruv Tavshilin, Yizkor, hefsek, bedikah, Mikvah night, and onah warnings. These notifications are scheduled by iOS on your device and can be controlled in the app and in iPhone Settings.

If the YidCalendar team account allows notifications, its device's push token is stored on YidCalendar's server so that the server can alert the team through the Apple Push Notification service when a new feature request arrives. Regular users' push tokens are not collected for this.

Calendar access

With your permission, YidCalendar can display events from calendars available through Apple's EventKit framework. If you enable Mikvah Calendar Sync, it can also add selected milestones to a calendar you choose. The app marks the events it creates so it can update or remove only its own entries.

YidCalendar account and sync

You may create an account using an email address and password. Account authentication and sync are provided through Supabase. When you are signed in, your reminders, events (including invitation photos), cycle entries, and selected settings are stored with your account so they can be restored on another device or after reinstalling. Deleted items are marked as deleted on the server so other devices remove them too. If you enable two-person Mikvah calendar sharing, selected records are available to the partner you authorize.

iCloud sync

If you are signed in with an Apple Account and enable iCloud in YidCalendar, reminders, events, invitation photos, and selected settings can sync through Apple's CloudKit private database for that Apple Account. iCloud sync is optional and is off unless you turn it on. Apple processes this information under Apple's privacy policy.

Subscriptions and purchase status

YidCalendar Premium Monthly and Annual are sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple processes payment. YidCalendar uses RevenueCat to check and restore Premium access. RevenueCat processes your YidCalendar account ID, a purchase identifier, and entitlement status. YidCalendar does not receive your card number.

SMS reminders

If you set up SMS reminders, YidCalendar processes the recipient phone number, your consent confirmation, selected reminder category, and wording choice to send the message you request. SMS delivery is provided by Textbelt. YidCalendar's delivery log stores a one-way hash and the last four digits rather than the complete number or message body. Recipients may reply STOP to opt out. Do not enroll a recipient unless they have agreed to receive these messages.

Face ID, Touch ID, and passcode

If you enable the Mikvah lock, authentication is handled by iOS. YidCalendar receives only whether authentication succeeded.

Advertising, analytics, and service providers

YidCalendar has no advertising and no third-party analytics, does not sell personal information, and does not track you across other companies' apps and websites. Service providers process data only for the matching feature:

  • Supabase: account sign-in, sync, sharing, feature requests, and the backend that forwards scan and Quick Add requests.
  • OpenAI: invitation scanning and Quick Add drafting, only after in-app consent and while signed in.
  • RevenueCat and Apple: Premium purchase and restore.
  • Textbelt: SMS delivery.
  • Apple: EventKit calendars, notifications and push notifications, WeatherKit, CloudKit/iCloud, on-device speech, and App Store purchases.

Deleting your data

You can delete individual reminders, events, and cycle entries in the app. Mikvah settings include a control to delete all cycle data. Settings > Account & Sync includes a control to delete your YidCalendar account and the data stored with it on the server. Feature requests you sent can be removed on request through the Support page.

Children

YidCalendar is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes and contact

This policy may be updated as the app changes. Questions can be sent through the Support page: https://yidcal.superapp.now/support or by email to monseyspeech@gmail.com.
