Ukrainian Choral Society named after Mykola Leontovych

Valovenko Yevhen Volodymyrovych, a head of the chamber choir "Canon" of the Association of Art Collectives under the Cherkasy Regional Council.

  He was born in December the 1st, 1983 in Cherkasy.

 He graduated from Cherkasy S.S. Gulak-Artemovsky State Music School with a degree in choral conducting in 2001

  In 2008, - Donetsk State Academy named after S. Prokofiev, majoring in "musical art" as a teacher of music, choir singer and choir conductor.

  As a student of the music school, he started working in the chamber choir "Canon" of the Association of Art Collectives under the Cherkasy Regional Council as a choir singer in 1999, and in 2005 he headed the ensemble leads it until nowadays.

 The chamber choir "Canon" participated in various art events and received positive feedback from experts and the public during this period. In particular, it was a participant at the Festival of Choir Music "Christmas Songs" (2006, Ivano-Frankivsk), Festivals "From Christmas to Christmas" (Dnipro, 2011 – the 3rd Prize, 2018 – the 2nd Prize).

  In 2012, he was honored as the best conductor at the Ukrainian festival "Dnipro Easter Songs", and the chamber choir "Canon" won the Grand Prix.

  Since 2011 he has been a co-organizer and, together with Canon, a regular participant of the Christmas Carol art festival in Cherkasy. Since 2008, at the invitation of the International Ukrainian Cultural Center in Finland, together with the men's group "Canon", he has been representing Ukrainian choral art in various parts of the country within the Center's educational activities.

  Together with the chamber choir "Canon", he prepared and presented dozens of concert programs, which contain works of various genres, styles, authors of composers of different times and countries in Cherkasy and in the towns of Cherkasy region. He pays special attention to the works of Ukrainian composers, classical and modern arrangements of Ukrainian folk songs, works of young Ukrainian composers.

  Yevhen Valovenko is also a teacher at the Cherkasy S.S. Gulak-Artemovsky Music College and the regent of the bishop's choir of the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Cherkasy. Almost from the very beginning of his creative activity he tries to fulfill himself as an arranger and composer - he is the author of a number of choral works - spiritual, arrangements of Ukrainian folk songs, works based on poems by Vasyl Symonenko, which are the part of the chamber choir "Canon" repertoire.
