ASSUMPTION PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — An Ohio man was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges in a child porn case.
The 23rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office said Arnold McCann, 24, of Cleveland, Ohio pled guilty to computer fraud and pornography involving juveniles following a plea agreement with prosecutors after his 2021 arrest .
In November 2017, Assumption Parish detectives began investigating after a child’s social media account was compromised when an unknown person attempted to have the child produce lewd and lascivious photos, according to the district attorney’s office. The account was abandoned.
McCann was identified by detectives in March 2020 when the social media account was found to be active and containing child pornography. Authorities found that two children in the images were Assumption Parish residents.
McCann, who lived in Ohio, was arrested in that state and transported to Assumption Parish Detention Center. The district attorney’s office said he was sentenced to 20 years in prison with credit for time served.
