🎄 Year-End U.S. Tax Checklist: Final Moves Before 2026

🎄 Year-End U.S. Tax Checklist: Final Moves Before 2026

US TAX CIS

Continuing the year-end checklist, below are a few additional steps worth reviewing before the end of the year.

🤲 Charitable contributions

If, based on the results of 2025, you plan to claim itemized deductions, charitable contributions to U.S. tax-exempt organizations may increase your tax deduction, provided they are properly documented and supporting records are retained.

It is important to keep in mind that:

• the deduction is available only when itemized deductions are claimed;

• AGI-based limitation thresholds apply.

🧓 Retirement contributions and tax deductions

If you planned to make retirement contributions for 2025, it is important to review the applicable limits and deadlines in advance, as they vary depending on the type of plan.

In particular:

• for 401(k) and SIMPLE IRA plans, contributions are generally tied to the end of the calendar year;

• for Traditional and Roth IRAs, contributions for 2025 may be made up to the tax filing deadline in 2026.

✨ The final weeks of the year are a convenient time to calmly review tax decisions and take advantage of opportunities that are still available.

Many of them will no longer be available — or will be significantly more difficult to implement — after December 31.
