I met my partner on Yahoo Personals in 2007. He was witty, intelligent, and kind and always new how to make me smile. Our relationship lasted for twelve wonderful years until, sadly, he passed away in May of 2019. I am still grieving for him but I will forever be grateful for having Yahoo bring him into my life.

I know Yahoo personals is not longer in existence, but I met my girlfriend on there in 2006. Next month will be our 13th anniversary, our daughter just celebrated her 9th birthday in January.

I had a positive experience with Yahoo Personals. I met and dated four different women: one was a flake, the second was a bit scary, the third I dated a couple of times before she broke things off, claiming I didn't listen to her (in reality, she talked unceasingly--selective hearing was a defense mechanism for preserving my sanity), and the fourth I dated many times. Within a couple of months, we moved in together, and then, within a year, we got married. In fact, today is our 6th year anniversary! Please realize, however, that my experiences with Yahoo Personals happened about 7 years ago; many things could have changed with the service, for good or ill, since then.

I am not sure why so many people here have left negative comments about Yahoo Personals. I have had nothing but positive results using the site. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for love or just a date.

but I know a married man on there who actually funny as it can get who is looking for someone to marry.... Just be careful that all I would say....

Well what do you know? The people behind this letter whoever they are are attaching photos of a beautiful blonde using almost exactly the same letter three years later and as usual with scammers - ignoring or rather not reacting to our replies and questions. This time it is signed Darya. Frankly anyone with a minimum knowledge surfing in a computer can tell easily that these are scammers pure and simple!!!! The internet is full of them. those who fall are probably so lonely thus closing their eyes with the illusion that the letters are genuine.

WARNING! This site is polluted by a lot of people from Africa, who are using pictures from people who posted their pics on another web site. They copy and paste the pics and then they create a profile here with a fake identity and the pics of someone else. They are trying to get in contact with people who fall for their total fake information, and after they play with them, they start pulling a scam on them, asking mainly for money because of a desperate situation they are in. You will notice this immediately if you ask for a recent picture or simple questions as..how is the weather there.. Be carefull and do not waste your money on this.

I met the most amazing girl from this site, we were together for about 3-months. So while I DID get a relationship out of this, for the most part I feel like I lucked out. If you're attractive, and have a lot going for you, you might just luck out here too. To the lady from Canada, mid 40s!! post dated 30/12/2009.
Just be careful.. Research & review site before you join any of them!!! Read reviews posted by others, these are only people bothered to post..Yahoo Id say is 80% Fake profiles & scammers, & outdated profiles. Yeah some profiles may be legit, but you have to seek them out. Maybe let the Male seek you out first?????? Im only going by my experience!! Hmmm!! The other day I came across Jennifer Hawkins, at Match.com. My advice save your money & go to a bar, or club with a friend. Then you can see what your getting into!! Oh be careful to if you end up joining a site using credit card.. If you join & pay with card & decide its not for you make SURE you CANCEL your subscription. Get a cancellation notice!! Otherwise they keep billing you!!!

Wow...you people are scaring me...I was actually thinking about using some (likely one) of these venues to, if nothing else, find someone that I could atleast socialize with once in a while. I'm a single mother and live in a small town in Canada and I am approaching my mid 40's. I think I will read some more reviews before I devote too much time to something like this.

I was also a single mom approaching my 40s. I met a wonderful man on Yahoo personals nine years ago. We have been happily married for eight! We actually lived in the same town all of our lives and didn't know it. You just have to be careful, read the profiles, talk to the person for quite some time before you meet them. We talked on the phone for two months before we met.

Yahoo Personals trust me don't waste your money!! Joined a month ago, all I get is scammers!! I am now onto my 10th scammer!! I live in Australia & only search local, profiles saying they live in Australia Melbourne but HEY, they either oh I'm on holidays at the moment in Nigeria, MUST BE A POPULAR DESTINATION, yeah right pull the other one!!
Im getting them from Indonesia, Russia, Ghana, & these are all profiles saying they live here in Australia. Ive come across some profiles of the same persons using a different Alias. Told Yahoo they say OH we will investigate. But HEY profiles are still there after 3 weeks!! I Ive been through nearly 500 profiles of females in Australia only, Melbourne that is, & Id say 3/4s are all out of date old or just not deleted, because Ive icebreaker allot & no reply.. The rest I say a scammers!! I'm on one now from Russia!! BEAUTIFUL she is!! She has even told her Daddy!! Shes 28 I'm bloody 46??? She speaks very Russian in her Emails & sends lots of photos!! Maybe she is the one???? YEAH RIGHT!! Yahoo personals stay away from the site believe it.. They might have lots of profiles, but like I say 3/4s or more are MAKING Yahoo look good.. E harmony don't even bother!! Read Blogs before going into any site you pick to join. Just GOOGLE IT.. ALSO if you join & pay at any site with a credit card, make BLOODY SHORE WHEN YOU DECIDE TO LEAVE THAT PARTICULAR SITE cancel your subscription!!! I wasn't impressed, maybe it was my fault but I didn't have any success and finally just gave up as it wasn't worth my time anymore. I'm a 47 year-old male, 6 feet, 190 lbs, not bad looking I think. I worked hard to make my profile make me sound fun and exciting and all that. In three months I messaged probaly 30 women , not one responded with anything. The only messages sent to me were from the obvious fakes, 27 year-old hot-looking women that couldn't write a logical paragraph if they tried. Obvious scams. I wonder if half the profiles on there are dummy profiles or maybe the women are collecting the messages they get like merit badges and they never intend to respond to any of them. Wasn't worth the $ I spent.

I hope you cancelled your membership. Yahoo personals keeps billing you if you don't make sure it is cancelled and keep a copy of the cancellation. I had been a member 2 years ago and it auto cancelled when the time was up. I signed up for a month in July and didn't check my credit card that close. Saw the charge, but thought it was the only one. they kept billing me and would not refund money even though I had cancelled, but, alas didn't keep a copy of it......no proof. So - anyone reading this be careful. They keep billing even though you may have signed on for only one month.....

Yahoo! Personals has clearly made a business decision not to filter out profiles created in Eastern Europe and West Africa. Every day I get form letter emails from women who want me to contact them at their personal email address. Here is an example of a typical email I received today:

Hello! How are you?
My name is Ekaterina, I search for the man for serious relations!
And as your profile has liked me, I have very much become interested in you.
I would like to communicate to you! youcan write me on
(her personal email address)@yahoo.com)
With impatience I will look forward to hearing from you!!!)))

I did not have this problem on Match.com or FastCupid.com. Obviously, Yahoo's management must think these fake/scam profiles are good for business. This is not a new development at Yahoo! Personals. Tolerance of these fake profiles has been going on for years. Save your money and stay away from this site.

Okay Donna (who's only qualifcation is that she is from New York City), thanks for telling me absolutely nothing ..Those dating search terms are only aspects of that person's ideal self, not their real self. If people actually acted the way that they think they act, then maybe online dating would work. Unfortunately, this is not the case.

None of the dating sites tell you whether the person you are interested in is a member or not. Many (most?) are not. So if I pay to send them a message they quite likely cannot respond. Unless they happen to be members or have some extra cash to toss around. This amounts to a scam. A fair approach would allow people to communicate as long as one of them is a member.

I had two messages from a woman and used the trial membership to read them. They were both just rants about how bad the site is.

Another thing I see on these sites are profiles by russian sounding women who look really hot. The english is always poor and the photo is always hot, but they live in the most unlikely of locations. I suspect these are either trolls for other pay sites or decoys by the personals site to get men to join.

These sites have a lot of promise and I would like to try a couple out. Including Yahoo. But I will not pay their high membership fee unless they provide an indication of whether or not the other person is actually a paid member. Or
