X appears to be phasing out NFT profile picture support
Powered by @unfolded- NFT profile picture support on X (formerly Twitter) seems to be getting phased out, with users no longer able to transform their profile picture from a circle to a hexagon by linking an NFT they own.
- The discontinuation of this service was first reported by TechCrunch, and X has removed all mentions of NFT profile pictures from its X Premium support page.
- Using NFTs as profile pictures on X was a way for users to express their interest in digital assets and also became a status symbol, as some NFTs have sold for millions of dollars.
- Elon Musk, who completed the acquisition of X in July 2023, had previously criticized the integration of NFT profile pictures on the platform.
