Wyatt Russell Set to Star in New High-Octane Thriller 'Black Ice'

Los Angeles, April 30, 2025 — Fresh off his acclaimed performances in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell has been tapped to lead the cast of Black Ice, an upcoming action-thriller from director Joe Carnahan (The Grey, Smokin’ Aces).

The film, described as a mix of John Wick-style combat and The Bourne Identity’s geopolitical intrigue, follows a disgraced CIA operative (Russell) who uncovers a conspiracy within a shadowy private military group. Forced to go rogue, he must evade assassins while exposing the truth—all while battling the treacherous conditions of the Arctic Circle.

Producers have teased that Russell will undergo intense physical training for the role, including hand-to-hand combat and extreme cold-weather survival techniques. 'Wyatt brings that perfect blend of charisma and grit,' Carnahan said in a statement. 'He’s the kind of actor who can make you believe he’s both a thinker and a brawler.'

Russell, son of Hollywood legends Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, has steadily built a reputation as a versatile leading man, shifting between indie dramas (Everybody Wants Some!!) and blockbuster franchises. Black Ice is set to begin filming in Iceland this summer, with a planned 2026 release.
